Greenlee wanted to make Leo jealous so one day, in early 2000, she hooked up with a man named Ken at Sounds of Salsa. She and Ken went to Ken's motel room and Ken ripped off Greenlee's clothes. He attempted to rape her but Leo came just in time to prevent this. As a result, Leo's hand was cut badly but he still survived.

Leo married Laura Kirk English, in June of 2001, to help her find the will to live since her heart was failing. When Laura got a heart transplant, courtesy of Gillian Andrassy Lavery, she and Leo were determined to make their marriage work. They decided to renew their vows in a lavish ceremony.

In the middle of the ceremony, Leo told Laura he could not be married to her and, right after this, Greenlee turned on the sprinklers and ruined everybody's clothes. Leo found Greenlee, in a vent where the vow renewal ceremony took place, and reunited with her there

She asked for a loan from a loan shark named Wade Randall to replenish the money. Wade kidnapped Greenlee and Leo came to rescue her but Wade made both Leo and Greenlee get on an elevator that he would cause to crash and possibly kill them.

The elevator crashed but neither Leo nor Greenlee died.

At the time that Leo and Greenlee got engaged, Ryan had just proposed marriage to Kendall Hart as well. Leo came up with the idea for both couples to get married on the same day but they did not agree to a double wedding since Kendall and Greenlee were enemies, at the time. Eventually, Ryan broke off his engagement to Kendall, in July of that year, when he saw her in a compromising position with Aidan Devane so there was no double wedding.

However, Leo and Greenlee married in July of 2002.

Bianca returned to town, in July of 2000, and she befriended a woman named Rain Wilkins. On Halloween night, of 2000, Rain took Bianca to a lesbian bar named Blue Angel and both felt comfortable at the bar. Leo and Greenlee saw both of them there that night. Greenlee was surprised to see that Erica Kane's daughter was a lesbian. Bianca privately told Leo that she was a lesbian and that she did not want to tell her mother, Erica, since she feared Erica would no longer love her. Bianca told Erica, on Christmas Eve of 2000, that she was a lesbian and it took Erica a while to accept this but she eventually did. Leo supported Bianca throughout her ordeal of coming to terms with her sexuality whereas Greenlee taunted her with the nickname, "Lesbianca."

Leo and Greenlee were honored, in "Soap Opera Digest's" annual Best and Worst Edition for 2000, when the magazine named them the "Hottest Couple" of 2000. They cited that, for a couple that was destined to not be together, they had a lot of chemistry and sizzled onscreen. Leo and Greenlee became an instant hit with many "AMC" fans and are a very popular former "AMC" supercouple to this day.
