At the first of the episode, Rocko and Spunky were desperately trying to find something to eat. There was no food in any of the cabinets, and the only thing in the refrigerator was a bug wearing a coat. It was holding a sign that said, "Will work for food".

Rocko had nothing in the house to eat, and he was low on cash. Then he saw a grocery store ad in the newspaper that said "All food 99 percent off until noon today". It was fifteen minutes till noon, but he was so desperate he went anyway.

When Rocko got to the Heap-o-Food store, cars were crashing into each other with people eager to get to the sale. As soon as Rocko parked, someone hit his car and tore the door off.

Answer: It was stuck in the freezer door.

As soon as Rocko got in the store, he started grabbing up anything he could find. When he and Spunky were passing the frozen food section, Spunky tried to lick a carton of ice cream. The freezer closed on his tongue, but Rocko didn't notice and kept walking. Spunky's tongue had stretched out for yards before Rocko realized.

Rocko was so busy shopping he didn't even see the huge spill in the seafood section. The annoying voice on the loudspeaker even warned about the spill, but he walked right through it.

Rocko found a guy in a big costume giving out samples of a snack called Lava Puffs. As soon as Rocko had one, he started running around with fire coming out of his mouth. He finally picked up and drank the lobster tank to cool his mouth.

When Spunky was in the meat department, one of the livers slid out of the package and crawled back into the butcher shop. Spunky followed it, and he fell into the plastic wrapping machine with the liver. Rocko wasted even more time trying to find his dog.

Answer: Filbert

In the early "Rocko" episodes, Filbert worked many different jobs. This was before he was a main character or Rocko's friend. Filbert was the cashier in Rocko's line, and he was as slow as a turtle checking out the food. Rocko was standing in line panicking, afraid he wouldn't make the noon deadline of the sale.

Answer: He had been waiting in line for a long time.

Filbert was so slow checking out the items that Rocko missed the big sale. The total went from $1.50 to $150. Rocko got very mad and started naming off all the disasters that had happened to him that day, including how he had nearly starved to death, had his head set on fire, beaten by the huge hippo lady, and had his dog wrapped in plastic.

Then he threatened, "If you don't change that total back to $1.50, I will do something, no lying!" Filbert gladly changed it back.

Answer: The trunk of his car bounced open, and everything fell out.

When Rocko finally got out of the store in one piece, he loaded the groceries in the trunk of his car. As he was driving, the car hit a bump in the road. The trunk bounced open, and all his food fell out. Rocko was right when he said, "Grocery day is a very dangerous day." If you thought the squirrels ate his food, you are probably thinking of the episode "Hut Sut Raw", where two squirrels jumped in Heffer's refrigerator and ate all his food.
