Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which TV show, based on a Wesley Snipes film series, was canceled after a single season in 2006?

Answer: Blade

Written by one of the original writers of "The Dark Knight" and "Jumper", "Blade: The Series" was actually a very popular cable show (originally airing on the Spike TV Network). Despite extremely favorable ratings, the show was not renewed for a second season.

It is speculated that the relative cost to produce the show, both in standard and high definition, was too much to continue with. Though Wesley Snipes did not return to reprise his role as the titular comic book hero, the role of Blade was taken by Kirk 'Sticky Fingaz' Jones, a hip-hop artist.

The show was canceled in September 2006.
2. Hosted by William Shatner, what game show met its end in December 2006?

Answer: Show Me the Money

Armed with a group of thirteen female dancers, William Shatner would spout the words 'Show Me the Money' and the show (and dancing) would begin. Essentially, players would need to answer trivia questions in order to select a dancer, each with a respective amount of money ranging from $20,000 to $250,000, to earn over a million. Correct answers add money to the final pot though only the six highest dollar amounts earned would count. If a player incorrectly guessed the answer, that amount would be taken away from the total (sometimes giving a negative balance). If that player encountered the one Killer Card held by one of the dancers, the game would go into Sudden Death mode and the player could potentially lose it all. ABC dropped the show from its mid-season line-up after sharply declining ratings. Only seven episodes made it to air over the show's brief run.
3. In this show, the main character had to relive the same day, over and over again. What was its name?

Answer: Daybreak

Starring Taye Diggs, the show revolved around a man in the LAPD who wakes up every morning (for thirteen episodes) to find that he is reliving the same day over and over again. In order to make things right, he needs to solve a pretty big mystery inevitably leaving him framed for the crime. Of course, with the power to get trapped in a time loop and retain your memories, it should be a breeze, right? The show lasted a mere six episodes before getting axed in mid-December 2006 due to sharply declining ratings.

Although it started with ten million viewers a week, it inevitably dropped to two million per episode.
4. Running for ten seasons, which series was announced as canceled in August 2006, but released "The Arc of Truth" on film two years later?

Answer: Stargate SG-1

Created as a military science fiction show in 1997, "Stargate SG-1" became one of the most successful sci-fi films to appear on TV. While the first five seasons aired on Showtime, the show was quickly snatched up by the Sci Fi Network, prolonging its life for another half-decade.

Although originally based on the 1994 blockbuster, "Stargate", starring Kurt Russell and James Spader, the TV show takes a different approach to the parallel universe found within the canon. After the series' cancellation, numerous movies and book series were released to continue the story including the 2008 film "Arc of Truth".

The five season series "Stargate: Atlantis" also furthered the canon while "Stargate Universe" was soon picked up by Sci Fi due to the series' built-in audience and popularity.
5. Which show ended its run in 2006, two years before the death of its main actor?

Answer: The Bernie Mac Show

After a noticeable drop in the show's ratings after five seasons, the show ended just passing its hundredth episode. Bernie Mac plays himself in the show, but he and his wife take care of three kids and get into a bunch of silly situations. The show won an Emmy for Writing in a Comedy Series in one year and Bernie Mac won NAACP Awrds for his role on the show four times.

Although "The Bernie Mac Show" aired after new episodes of "The Simpsons" on Sundays, the viewers didn't tune in and the show was axed. Bernie Mac, aside from his role on the show, appeared in "Ocean's Eleven", "Ocean's Twelve", and "Ocean's Thirteen" as well as "Transformers".

He passed away at the age of fifty in 2008 due to pneumonia.
6. Its title referring to the human brain, which TV show starred Stanley Tucci before being canceled?

Answer: 3lbs

Funny story behind this one.
CBS created a drama starring Ray Liotta called "Smith" in which thieves try to make it big, then keep their personal lives separate. Of course, the show was canceled three episodes in, losing its timeslot in October 2006.
Before midseason, CBS introduced the medical drama "3lbs", referring to the weight of the human brain. Three was the key number of course. Three episodes into this show, it was canceled as well, ending just before December 2006 with five unaired episodes.
Suffice to say, both Ray Liotta and Stanley Tucci went back to movies after these.
7. Which 'Blue Collar' comedian did not appear on the canceled "Blue Collar TV"?

Answer: Ron White

Originally airing on the WB, "Blue Collar TV" was based on the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour", a popular comedic show released separate times on DVD. Due to the overwhelming reception for the four stars, WB picked up the show in 2004 and gave it two full season runs before shutting down shop.

It was one of the first major casualties of the CW merger in 2006. Ron White was the only member of the quartet not to be a starring player on the show due to personal reasons but he did make many guest appearances during the show's run.

After the cancellation of "Blue Collar TV", Jeff Foxworthy went on to host FOX's "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?", TBS picked up "The Bill Engvall Show" in the same year, and Larry the Cable Guy appeared in the Disney/Pixar film "Cars" as Mater in 2006.
8. What NBC summer show about a group of lottery winners was canceled in September 2006?

Answer: Windfall

Lasting its initial thirteen episode order, "Windfall" starred an ensemble cast (including Luke Perry, known for his role in "Beverly Hills 90210"). Based around a group of eighteen people who won and split a state lottery worth an astronomical $386 million, the show dealt with the pros and cons of falling into an immeasurable sum of money.

Unfortunately, the show fell on hard times from the get-go. FOX originally passed on the pilot, letting NBC take it instead. Rather than finding success, it found less than 3.5 million viewers, and the number never rose, even falling below 2 million viewers per episode by the end. By September 2006, the show was axed completely.
9. NBC canceled "Kidnapped" after airing a single episode.

Answer: False

While the first five episodes of NBC's drama, "Kidnapped", were aired in their entirety, low ratings (6 million to start, then decreasing) ended up spelling out the show's fate before the network decided to cancel it in November 2006. The remaining eight episodes were later shown on the Internet and in a separate DVD collection. "Kidnapped" revolved around a family trying to find their kidnapped son.

Many of the stars of the show later appeared on "Law & Order" in supporting roles. The writer of "Kidnapped", Jason Smilovic, later created the TV show "My Own Worst Enemy" starring Christian Slater and wrote for the 2007 TV revival of "Bionic Woman"...and both were canceled in ten episodes or less.
10. Which famous actor starred with Jeffrey Tambor in "Twenty Good Years"?

Answer: John Lithgow

After the cancellation of FOX's "Arrested Development", Jeffrey Tambor hopped onto the bandwagon with John Lithgow to star in this NBC comedy which only made it through a few episodes of its initial thirteen episode run (only reaching about four episodes) before getting canned.

The show, based on two older men who realize that, at most, they only have twenty years to live decide to make some choices that will enable them to live better lives. John Lithgow, in 2009, hopped into the TV show "Dexter" on Showtime and Jeffrey Tambor decided to reprise his role in "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" and appear in "The Hangover" in 2009.
