Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this game, the player starts with an Eevee. They have one other psuedo-starter that the player is forced to catch and who comes with a guaranteed catch rate. What is the player's other 'starter'?

Answer: Teddiursa

The tutorial battle of the game features the player battling Cipher Peon Naps, who sends out a Shadow Teddiursa. Catching the Teddiursa to properly participate in double battles is mandatory, but as this is a scripted 100% catch rate, the player won't have to actually spend any resources apart from a single Poke Ball catching it.
2. This game is indeed a proper sequel to "Pokemon Colosseum". Several NPCs reference the events of the past game, and a clear timeline is painted. How many years have passed since the events of "Pokemon Colosseum" in this game?

Answer: Five

The teacher NPC in front of a tutorial board the player can read can give a brief rundown of the events that took place in the prior game if talked to by the player. During this, she specifically mentions how it took place five years prior. This can be confirmed through numerous other dialogues, including but not limited to Professor Krane, Lily, Gonzap and more.
3. During discussions with characters such as Lovrina, Miror B and Gonzap, each of these three team leaders make a recruitment pitch to the player to convince them to join their side, or at least cooperate with them. Can the player actually accept their offers?

Answer: No

This is how you know the game came out in the middle 2000s: there is actually a fair bit of pointless yes/no questions the player is asked, where there is a "correct" answer the game eventually forces onto the player. No, you can't join Cipher, you can't join Team Miror, and you can't join Team Snagem. Even if doing so might be funny given the context of this game.
4. Throughout this game, the player will encounter a number of recurring faces. Who has the most mandatory fights in the entire game?

Answer: Miror B

Admins Lovrina, Snattle and Gorigan each have two encounters where the player must defeat them. A handful of Cipher Peons are also encountered twice, but Miror B will end up fighting the player a minimum of four times; once at the Cave Poke Spot, again at the Outskirt Stand, one more time at a random location, then last off at the Gateon Port.

The player may end up needing to fight him more if they fail to snag a Shadow Pokemon. But even if the player is completely perfect at snagging, a minimum of four fights with Miror B are required.
5. Like it's predecessor, snagging Shadow Pokemon is a central objective in this game. How many Shadow Pokemon are there to be caught?

Answer: 83

This is up from the 48 that were in "Colosseum". Unlike the aforementioned game, several Peons and Admins have more than one Shadow Pokemon, while the final boss Grand Master Greevil has his entire team of six as Shadows. In "Colosseum", even the final boss only had a single Shadow Pokemon.
6. In "Colosseum" there was only a single Shadow move. There are numerous Shadow moves here. How many?

Answer: Eighteen

A small selection of these are exclusive to one Pokemon: Shadow Lugia and Shadow Blast, Articuno and Shadow Chill, Zapdos and Shadow Bolt and Moltres with Shadow Fire.

In "Colosseum", the only Shadow move to exist was Shadow Rush. Shadow Rush made it's return here, but on top of being a much stronger move, it's accompanied by other nasty Shadow moves such as Shadow End, Shadow Break and Shadow Half.
7. Where in "Colosseum" there was Hyper Mode, Reverse Mode takes its place here. Reverse Mode is much, much less punishing than Hyper Mode, but also less rewarding. What is one consequence to a Pokemon ending a turn in Reverse Mode?

Answer: It takes damage

Reverse Mode causes the afflicted to take a measly 1/16th of their health in damage every turn. That said, there are no advantages to actually remaining in Reverse Mode, as it doesn't make Shadow moves scarier like Hyper Mode once did. On the other hand, the disobedience mechanic is completely absent from Reverse Mode, while being quite the hindrance in Hyper Mode. So there's a lot to give and take here. Both modes have in common that the afflicted cannot have items used on them until snapped out of their respective mode.
8. Shadow Lugia, the cover legendary for this game, is said to be the only Pokemon who cannot ever be purified. Is this true?

Answer: No

Purifying Shadow Lugia is quite the commitment, as the player must massively interact with the Purification Chamber to do it. Specifically, they must attain a perfect Flow and Tempo on all nine Sets in order to purify Lugia. This will require many, many Shadow Pokemon not only be caught, but also purified, to do. All other Pokemon can be purified alternatively, but Lugia alone has a strict prerequisite.
9. In "Colosseum", there was a special reward for climbing all 100 areas of Mt Battle without leaving, changing teams, or teaching any new moves along the way. There is a special reward for doing that here, too. What will the player receive if they achieve this?

Answer: Their choice of a Johto starter

Totodile, Chikorita or Cyndaquil at level 5 will be rewarded. Each of them comes with a starter Hyper Beam clone (Hydro Cannon, Frenzy Plant and Blast Burn respectively), a random egg move, and then their earliest two learned moves. If the player achieves the Mt Battle 100 area challenge three times, they can claim all three Johto starters- they can't claim one more than once, however.
10. Cipher has had some seriously loose screws throughout this game. When defeated, Admin Gorigan and Grand Master Greevil both threaten to straight-up murder the main character. How do they threaten to do so?

Answer: In an explosion

Gorigan tells the player he is going to blow up the Cipher Key Lair with the main character still inside of it, before Greevil himself calls Gorigan off. Ironically, Greevil himself agrees to Ardos' request that Greevil call for the implosion of Citadark Isle with the main character still on it. In both times, the offender makes it very clear that the explosions should take place with the main character still within the blast radius, so they are very explicitly threatening to kill them in an explosion two separate times.

That's a bit of a messed up way to deal with an annoying ten year old, in my professional opinion.
