2. There is beauty in simplicity, and the iconic Winged Spear that would go on to appear across the "Dark Souls" trilogy and "Elden Ring" after debuting in "Demon's Souls" is representative of this sentiment. What area of the latter can it be found in?

Answer: World 1 (Gates to Boletaria)

It can be located using two different methods. The first is simply looting it on the ground along the Lord's Path. The player needs to be careful though, as the Winged Spear here lays directly in the line of literal fire courtesy of a hostile dragon overhead. The second is simply farming for the spear off of Penetrator Archstone Soldiers inside the Boletaria Palace.

The Winged Spear is iconic for one reason; it is the lengthiest melee weapon in the game, a distinction that it would remain at least tied for across the rest of its existence. This makes it wonderful for greatshield users, as they can attack while raising their shields competently and from a distance. Having a lot of length means any build can make use of it effectively, and over the course of its history, many, many builds of all kinds certainly have done so.

3. The Moonlight Butterfly Horn of "Dark Souls 1" is a spear with unique properties. It deals absolutely zero physical damage, instead banking it all on an element. What element does the Moonlight Butterfly Horn deal?

Answer: Magic

Joining the Moonlight Greatsword, these two are the only melee weapons in the entire game that deal zero physical damage. Of course, they both scale exclusively off of Intelligence as well. Given how early the Moonlight Butterfly can be fought, this weapon is a fantastic choice for Intelligence builds.

It scales effectively off of Intelligence and has excellent range, so it could very easily become a staple in such a build, used to complete the whole game with.

4. Dragonslayer Ornstein's Dragonslayer Spear is available to the "Dark Souls 1" player. It has fairly high stat requirements out of both Strength and Dexterity, with the requirement for both being the same number. How much Strength, as well as Dexterity, is needed to use this weapon?

Answer: 24

With C scaling in Strength and B scaling in Dexterity, this weapon plays more the part of a Quality weapon than more of a Dexterity focused armament it would turn into in future entries of the franchise. Despite having no requirement in Faith, it attains B scaling here as well.

5. The Gargoyle's Bident of "Dark Souls 2" requires 15 Strength, 25 Dexterity to wield. It scales excellently off of Strength, with an A scaling. What is its scaling in Dexterity?

Answer: It doesn't have any

Bizarrely, this weapon requires almost twice the Dexterity that it does Strength, yet has zero scaling off of Dexterity whatsoever. This makes it awkward to fit in on the Strength builds it was clearly intended to be used on.

6. Yorgh's Spear is arguably a top 5 weapon in all of "Dark Souls 2". What boss must be slain to acquire it?

Answer: Sinh the Slumbering Dragon

The one and only reward for Sinh's boss soul is the Yorgh's Spear, the very weapon seen lodged into Sinh's chest during the fight. It has very high demands of 30 in both Strength and Dexterity. However, it scales excellently off of both. Combined with its exclusive, unique moveset that can easily throw PvP players off and has utility in PvE, and the Yorgh's Spear is a fantastic choice for a weapon.

7. The Santier's Spear in "Dark Souls 2" is quite the enigma. What must the player do for the spear to achieve its highest damage output?

Answer: Break it

When broken, the weapon gains an exclusive, unique moveset and a massive boost to its base power. Because it is considered broken to begin with, this means it also technically has infinite durability in this state. It can be found at the Doors to Pharros.

8. The Lothric War Banner in "Dark Souls 3" is a spear with an exceptional amount of utility. Its weapon art, harboring the same name as the weapon itself, casts a buff that cannot be found as a spell or on any other weapon. What does the Lothric War Banner weapon art do?

Answer: Buffs damage output for self and allies

It should be noted that, unlike "Elden Ring's" Commander's Standard which essentially emulates this weapon, the Lothric War Banner effect will immediately end for all affected characters if the initial user of the move puts the weapon away for any reason.

As such, if casting Lothric War Banner, the caster must ensure to keep the weapon out- they cannot put it on their character's back, it must be immediately available to deal damage in order for its effect to remain.

9. Across From Software's history, spears have mostly been only capable of dealing Thrust (or Pierce) damage. This changed in a big way in "Elden Ring". Which spear of the following is capable of dealing Slashing damage?

Answer: Cross-Naginata

The Cross-Naginata has a unique moveset and two small blades sticking out its side. This logically allows it to deal Slashing damage with pieces of its moveset.

10. The Clayman's Harpoon is the ultimate Swiss army knife out of its "Elden Ring" class. Yet, it will also be potentially very frustrating for the player to acquire, as it can only be acquired via looting off a defeated Clayman. What is the chance the Clayman will drop this weapon upon defeat?

Answer: 2%

This number can fortunately be increased through the usage of equipment or consumables, yet it is still a low figure. Claymen only appear in Siofra, an area that can potentially be quite annoying and time consuming to access. Once done, the player will now need to undergo the tedious process of killing the few that appear here over and over again until they get lucky.

Fortunately, the Clayman's Harpoon is well worth the effort. It uniquely will attain at least a B scaling in anything it is infused with, making it very flexible and able to competently be used on any build imaginable.
