Campbell's has used numerous other slogans, but none have had of the staying power of "Mmm Mmm Good". The red and white label has been around since 1898, inspired by the Cornell University football team colors, but no one actually knows the slogan's origin.
3. Mikey Likes It

The slogan was never actually spoken in the 1972 commercial. The ad, starred actor John Gilchrist, then nearly 4 years old, as Mikey. In the ad, Gilchrist's two real-life brothers, Michael and Tommy, push a bowl of the mysterious, supposedly good-for-you cereal at him, saying, "Give it to Mikey. He won't eat it. He hates everything."

The commercial for Life cereal ran from 1972 to 1986, becoming one of the longest-running advertisements in TV history. It's obvious that this commercial was an absolute hit. The best part is, Mikey never said a word.
4. For All You Do

The Burger King "Have it Your Way" commercial is one of the most memorable ad campaigns in the history of fast food. The commercial, which aired in 1974, introduced the world to the concept of "having it your way" and allowed customers to customize their orders to their liking. Tootsie Roll Industries may have gotten it right from the get-go when they declared that the world may never know the true answer after all.

Believe it or not a number of our great institutions of higher learning have actually conducted studies to find the answer. Purdue students (really) designed a "licking machine" and determined that it takes 341 licks to reach the center. A similar experiment at the University of Michigan put the number at 411. Yikes!!
9. My Bologna Has a First Name

This 1974 ad campaign taught everyone in America how to spell the word bologna.

It was originally meant to be sung by a group of children. but during rehearsals one 4 year-old said he could sing it all the way through by himself. His name is Andy Lambros and he went on to do more than 20 commercials.

American Express first told consumers they shouldn't leave home without them in 1975. That campaign featured the Academy Award-winning actor Karl Malden and ran for over 20 years.

The slogan evolved to "Don't leave home without it" to promote American Express credit cards.

Debuting in a 1971 commercial, "You deserve a break today" was McDonald's first real slogan. It played upon the turmoil experienced in the 1970s. Ad Age rated it as one of the best and most effective advertising slogans of the 20th century.
