On the March 17, 1984 episode of World Wrestling Entertainment's "Championship Wrestling", André the Giant was the guest on the "Piper's Pit" segment. Roddy Piper discussed the topic of Big John Studd bodyslamming André the Giant. André the Giant got annoyed and lifted Roddy Piper with one hand before storming off of the set. Once André the Giant left the set, Roddy Piper delivered the line "You don't throw rocks at a man with a machine gun!" to the camera.

The popular Pedro Morales had regained the WWF Intercontinental Title from his arch rival The Magnificent Muraco on November 23, 1981. Morales successfully defended the belt in 1982 against such challengers as Adrian Adonis, Greg Valentine, Bob Orton, Buddy Rose and Blackjack Mulligan. He lost the belt back to a returning Muraco on January 22, 1983.

Backlund had been ambushed by the Sheik on "Championship Wrestling" while performing a test of strength that involved twirling 70 pound Persian clubs. The injury that Backlund sustained in the attack made him particularly vulnerable the Sheik's submission hold, the camel clutch. When Backlund was caught in the hold during their title changing match, Backland's manager Arnold Skaaland threw in the towel fearing for Backlund's safety, forfeiting the match and ending Backlund's six year title reign. Backlund would leave the WWE within months, but he would make an unlikely return nine years later and win back the title. His second reign would last 3 days.

Monsoon issued a challenge to Patera for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, saying he'd retire if he lost. Their August 23rd match was stopped as a result of Monsoon bleeding, and Patera was declared the winner. Unlike other wrestlers who make promises of retirement, Monsoon was true to his word. His departure from the ring, however, was the beginning of a second career in the wrestling business that would see him become one of the most prolific and recognized broadcasters in wrestling history. He would remain an important voice and personality for the WWE until his death in 1997.

Due to this loss The Harts dropped in the rankings and thus Demolition was given the Tag Team Title match at "Wrestlemania IV".

Though they were the first black tag team to win the title, WWE Tag Team Championship history was already a testament to ethnic and racial diversity. The title had been held by wrestlers of Asian, Arab, Latin American, Native American and Caucasian descent. Ironically, Atlas and Johnson won the belts from the Wild Samoans, the first Polynesian team to win the championship.

The last two wrestlers were long time friends S.D. Jones and Tony Atlas who refused to wrestle one another. However when WWF officials insisted on there being a decided winner the two opted to flip coin. Atlas won the coin toss and subsequently the match.

Allen Coage aka Bad News Brown was a very accomplished Judo Master and won a Bronze Medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Canada. Brown had a reputation as a legitimate tough guy with a sour disposition and never let anyone push him around. It is rumored he was one of the only men who ever got the legendary Andre the Giant to back away from a fight.

28. On February 8, 1986 in the famed Boston Garden, Randy "Macho Man" Savage defeated Tito Santana to win the WWF Intercontinental Title. What did Savage do to Tito to win the championship?

Hillbilly Jim began appearing at ringside on weekly WWF telecasts in the fall of 1984. Describing himself as Hulk Hogan's biggest fan, he would cheer the heroes and jeer the heels. When the dastardly trio of Bobby Heenan, Big John Studd and Ken Patera were about to snip off Hulk's last few locks of hair, Hillbilly jumped the barricade and saved his idol. As repayment Hogan trained Hillbilly and took him under his wing, the character was very comedic but did stick around till 1990.
