Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Wrestling great Bruno Sammartino is known as the "Living Legend." Who is "The New Living Legend?"

Answer: Larry Zbyszko

Zbyszko was trained and introduced to wrestling by Bruno Sammartino in 1973, and their association was a theme throughout Zbyszko's entire career. After turning on Sammartino in 1980, Zbyszko adopted the moniker, adding heat to what is one of wrestling's greatest ever feuds.
2. Jimmy Snuka went from being the WWE's top heel to its top face when he split with manager Lou Albano on a 1983 installment of Buddy Rogers' Corner. What caused the falling out?

Answer: It was revealed that Albano had been ripping Snuka off.

In the ensuing brawl, Ray Stevens gave Snuka two pile drivers on the concrete floor. It was the first of several infamous beatings that Snuka would endure during his WWE face run.
3. Which song did Hulk Hogan enter the ring to when he won his first WWE Heavyweight Championship against the Iron Sheik on January 23, 1984?

Answer: Eye of the Tiger by Survivor

Hogan had begun using Eye of the Tiger in 1983 when he wrestled for the AWA, and he continued using it after winning the WWE Heavyweight Championship from the Sheik.

For a brief period in 1985, after the release of the Wrestling Album, he entered the ring to "Hulk Hogan's Theme," before switching to "Real American", the song he would use for the rest of his WWE tenure.
4. "Tuesday Night Titans" was a weekly WWE television show that resembled a late night talk show. Either Vince MacMahon or Gene Okerlund would host it. Who was the sidekick?

Answer: Lord Alfred Hayes

Hayes took a fair share of insults and abuse from heel guests.
5. Mr. X, the masked wrestler who jobbed regularly during the mid eighties, didn't get very far. The wrestler who portrayed him, however, resurfaced afterward as a different character and had a more high profile run in which he was involved in several feuds and participated at a handful of Pay Per Views. Who was he?

Answer: Danny Davis

Both Davis and X were portrayed by Dan Marsh, a wrestler who doubled as a WWE referee. The Davis character came to prominence in 1986, when his biased officiating influenced the outcome of several important matches. After being banned for life as a referee, he joined Jimmy Hart's stable as a wrestler. Though never a legitimate contender, Davis worked the corrupt-referee-turned-wrestler gimmick for over a year.

He would compete at two "Wrestlemanias", a "Royal Rumble" and a "Survivor Series", and he would advance two rounds at the 1987 "King of the Ring" tournament. Shortly after his run as a wrestler ended, he was reinstated as a referee and he worked as a regular WWE official for several more years.
6. Which former Heenan Family member was surrounded after a match and whipped "like a dirty yard dog" by the current Heenan Family on a 1987 telecast of "Superstars of Wrestling"?

Answer: Ken Patera

Ken Patera was in the midst of a comeback after being away from wrestling for two and a half years to serve time in prison. Now a face, he was immediately thrown into a feud with the Heenan family. The week after being whipped by Hercules, Paul Orndorff, Harley Race, King Kong Bundy and Heenan, Patera responded by delivering what is considered by many people to be the worst promo in wrestling history, killing his push and rendering him a non-factor for the rest of his short, WWE face run.
7. When Ted Debiase arrived in the WWE as the Million Dollar Man, he sometimes pulled people from the audience and challenged them to do tasks to win money. Which of the following was not one of them?

Answer: He challenged a boy to limbo under a bar, then pushed the bar down.

Debiase was so successful at putting over the Million Dollar Man gimmick that many fans actually believed it to be legitimate. He fully lived up the huge push that he received upon entering the promotion, unlike other highly-touted newcomers, and for five years he would be one of the WWE's top heels and most reliable in ring performers.

(The woman who barked like a dog was Linda MacMahon, then unknown to WWE audiences.)
8. Who destroyed the trophy that was awarded to Bad News Brown for winning the Battle Royal at "Wrestlemania 4"?

Answer: Bret Hart

Hart and Brown were the last remaining participants and agreed to share the win. When Hart turned his back, Brown blindsided him and threw him out of the ring. After the trophy was presented, Hart returned to the ring, kicked Brown out and destroyed the trophy. It was the beginning of a face turn for Hart and tag team partner Jim Neidhart.
9. After months of growing tension, The Mega-Powers finally split up when Randy Savage abandoned Hulk Hogan in the midst of a tag team match on "Saturday Night's Main Event" in February 1989. Who were the Mega-Powers wrestling?

Answer: The Twin Towers

Elizabeth was accidentally hurt during the match and Hogan carried her out of the arena to find medical treatment, leaving Savage to fend for himself. After Hogan returned, Savage tagged out, slapped Hogan across the face, and walked out. Hogan went on to single-handedly win the match against the Twin Towers and he would settle the score with Savage a few weeks later at "Wrestlemania 5", winning his second WWE Heavyweight Championship.
10. Why is December 13, 1989, a significant day in the career of Andre the Giant?

Answer: He became a WWE Tag Team Champion.

Andre was wrestling's largest draw for most of his career and was literally above titles. However, by 1989, as a result of declining health, Andre could no longer be used in his traditional main event role. He and Haku, as the Colossal Connection, won the titles from the Demolition and the four months that they held the titles would be Andre's longest WWE title reign and an epilogue to his storied career.

The Colossal connection would lose the titles back to the Demolition at "Wrestlemania 6", Andre's last significant WWE match.
