As the episode progressed and Sam was unable to find his brother, he became more vulnerable to the hallucinations.

Bobby died at the end of "Death's Door", but dodged his reaper so he could remain a spirit and help the Winchesters in their battle against the leviathans. After he found himself turning into a vengeful spirit, though, he had Sam and Dean burn the flask that was attached to his spirit so he could be put to rest. This occurred in "Survival of the Fittest".

Edgar coordinated many of the leviathans' activities for Dick Roman, including sending Chet after the Winchesters in "The Girl Next Door", meeting with Dr. Gaines in "How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters", killing angels and kidnapping Kevin in "Reading is Fundamental", and meeting with the Alpha Vampire in "There Will Be Blood". Sam chopped off Edgar's head in "There Will Be Blood", and he was not seen again.

Fortunately for the Winchesters, Don arrived and put a spell on the leviathan to temporarily stop the creature.

In "Meet the New Boss", the three hunters summoned Crowley to get a spell to bind death, since they believed Death was the only one that could kill God, and Castiel was "God". He also warned the Winchesters that if they tried to bind him again, he would kill them.

Ian Tracy played Lee, who was also poisoned by the vetalas in "Adventures in Babysitting".

Castiel later told the brothers that the tablet was the word of God.

At the end of the episode, she left to start a new life with a new identity, and told the brothers this was not the first time she had done so.

They then proceeded to Black Water Ridge, Colorado (location for "Wendigo"), Manitoc, Wisconsin (location for "Dead in the Water"), etc. Ironically, the brothers figured this out after the leviathan Sam and Dean hit St. Louis, the location for "Skin", when a shapeshifter took Dean's form and framed him for murder. The real brothers were then able to catch up with the leviathans in Iowa, location of "Hook Man".

Castiel saved Sam by moving Sam's mental illness to himself at the end of that episode, and became catatonic for several episodes, until he woke up when Dean broke open the clay to reveal the leviathan tablet in "Reading is Fundamental". Castiel was off balance, scattered and loopy for the next few episodes (although it did make for some very funny dialogue), but he help the Winchesters. He then was blown into purgatory with Dean at the end of "Survival of the Fittest".

This was Castiel's deadpan response to Sam's question about the tablet. Sam wanted to know what the writing said. After this answer, Castiel told them that angels could not read it. There was also a very funny exchange when Castiel told the brothers that the writing on the tablet was "the handwriting of Metatron." Sam responded "Metatron? You're saying a transformer wrote that?" Dean then told Sam that he was thinking of "Megatron" and the brothers did a little back and forth dalogue with Dean telling Sam he had the wrong name and Sam's "what?" questions to Dean becoming more and more exasperated. Castiel explained that Metatron was an angel, the scribe of God, who "took down dictation when creation was being formed."
