Bobby said this to Dean at the beginning of "Meet the New Boss". He expressed his frustration that he did not even know what he was looking for in their search for Castiel, who Dean referred to as "God, Part Deux".

In "Meet the New Boss", the three hunters summoned Crowley to get a spell to bind death, since they believed Death was the only one that could kill God, and Castiel was "God". Castiel found out what they were doing and unbound Death. Death did agree to create an eclipse so the hunters could get the door to Purgatory open and get the souls out of Castiel and back to Purgatory.

He also warned the Winchesters that if they tried to bind him again, he would kill them.

Dean offered Death the fried pickle chips, saying they were "the best in the state". The mutual appreciation that Dean and Death have for junk food has been a running joke on the show. For instance, the two shared deep dish pizza in Chicago during season 5, and they shared bacon hot dogs at Bobby's during season 6.

The exchange between Castiel and Death in "Meet the New Boss" was classic, filled with funny lines. When Castiel said he was God, Death said he looked more like a "mutated angel". Death also stated that Castiel had "bought his own press".

Sam saw and heard Lucifer throughout most of the episode. In addition to choking Sam, driving him to an office building that turned out to be a warehouse, and stabbing a poker clear through Bobby, he constantly tortured Sam with stories and idle chatter, like reading the newspaper and commenting on Prince William's marriage.

This made it more difficult for Sam to focus on reality. There was no hallucination of him choking Dean, though. When Dean found Sam in the warehouse, he was able to use his own experience with torture in Hell to help his brother by showing him how to use the pain in his hand to block out the hallucinations.

Castiel was unable to hold on to the leviathans after the souls were put back in Purgatory. In "Hello, Cruel World", he stumbled into the municipal water supply, and the creatures escaped, got into the pipes, and into humans. They quickly began eating people after that, and became the main problem for the brothers to deal with during season 7.

In "Hello, Cruel World", Sam told Dean and Bobby that he was seeing and hearing Lucifer. He explained that Lucifer was telling him that Sam never left the cage and his whole life with Dean and Bobby back on earth had been imagined.

Dean left Sam in Bobby's care during "Hello, Cruel World". Unfortunately, Sheriff Mills called to alert Bobby to trouble at the hospital and asked for his help, so Bobby left Sam alone to save her and check out the hospital. While alone, Sam's hallucinations reached a new level, causing him to leave the house and start shooting at the Lucifer hallucination.

While talking to Bobby, Dean called Sam "Girl, Interrupted" after Sam zoned out in the middle of a conversation with the other two hunters. It was a reference to the movie starring Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder, where a young woman spent eighteen months in a mental hospital. Bobby tried to calm Dean's concerns, noting that Sam "zoned out once - that's progress." He then told him that he believed Sam's head "ain't no different than your leg. People heal on a curve."

After Sam read about a string of "ice pick" murders in the local paper in Montana, he had a flashback to 1998, when Dean and his father were hunting a monster that killed the same way, and a young Sam was doing the research to identify the monster for them.

The episode went back and forth, from past to present, recounting Sam's encounter with a young Amy, who turned out to be a kitsune, but who had not killed like her mother. The girl ended up killing her mother to save Sam. And, in the present, revealing Amy as a mother, resorting to killing people to get their pituitary glands in order to save her son's life.

The man who used to run dog fights was killed by the dog. The man who had killed a girl with his car was run over by a car. The man who had shot and killed people in a liquor store robbery was shot to death. In each case, the person had already been tried, convicted and served their time, but they still felt guilty.

Answer: Osiris

In "Defending Your Life", Bobby was able to identify the God using the symbols drawn by one of the "defendants". Buobby told Sam that Osiris was judge, jury and executioner, and was able to see directly into the human heart. He weighed the guilt and if he found "more than a feather's worth" the defendant would be sentenced to death and killed.

Answer: "The Good Wife"

Osiris listened to Dean tell the bartender at Neal's Tavern that he felt guilty, and then kidnapped him outside the bar. Sam was able to find Dean "on trial" at the barn. To stop Osiris from kicking him out, Sam convinced him to let Sam serve as Dean's lawyer. Sam was able to cross examine Jo to show that she hunted for her father rather than for Dean, and to answer the questions he, himself, received in a way that would clear Dean.

He also figured out that if he could show Dean did not feel guilty, then he could not be convicted, so he called Dean to the stand and worded his questions in a way that Dean could honestly say he was not guilty.

Answer: Amy

Dean killed Amy in "The Girl Next Door" after telling Sam he would not do so. At the beginning of "Defending Your Life", Sam again thanked Dean for trusting him and not going after Amy. While Dean believed killing Amy, a creature that had killed several men, was the right thing to do, he felt guilty about lying to his brother, and chose to go straight to the death sentence rather than have Sam find out what he had done first. Fortunately, Bobby told Sam stabbing the God with a ram's horn would get rid of him for a couple centuries. Sam was able to stab Osiris with a ram's horn before the death sentence could be carried out, thereby saving Dean's life.
