Bobby's walk down memory lane included working a case with Rufus when Rufus nearly died, having a bad fight with his wife after telling her he did not want children, and shooting his abusive father in the head to protect his mother and himself. However, his last memory was of watching a movie with Sam and Dean, and he realized he had essentially "adopted" them.

Bobby's term for "idiot" was "idjit," but it was more a term of exasperated affection when he used it on Sam and Dean than it was a term of derision. Therefore, when he called them this at the end, he was telling them he cared about them while still maintaining his gruff, crusty character.

Sam believed he was hunting one vetala because his father had hunted one that was alone when Sam was a child. Dean knew they usually worked in pairs because he had hunted a pair while Sam was in college. However, when Sam called to tell Dean what he was hunting and to ask for help, Dean was asleep and missed the call.

By the time he got the message, Sam had already been taken by the vetalas.

Frank's combination of genius and crazy makes for some funny dialogue. The scene where Dean had to prove he was not a leviathan was no exception. Dean finally convinced him by cutting his own arm. He then made Frank do the same.

Bobby wrote five numbers on Sam's hand. Frank figured out that there was a missing number, which led him to discover the parcel of land in Wisconsin. When Frank and Dean conducted surveillance there, they discovered one of Roman's employees on site.

Sam's phone rang, startling him awake. He gave Dean a befuddled, disgruntled look, and this was Dean's response. The call was from Sheriff Mills, giving the brothers a tip on a case.

Answer: Eliot Ness

When he was sent back to 1944, Dean was thrilled to realize Eliot Ness was a hunter, but disappointed to realize the Hollywood version was a bit different from the reality. Eliot Ness lived up to his reputation, but much of the "Untouchables" movie dialogue was not present.

The brothers were hunting Chronos, the God of Time. Chronos was killing three people during different times in order to be able to maintain his power to time travel. Once he pulled Dean back to 1944 with him, the brothers had to find a way to kill the God and get Dean back to his own time.

The brothers, while separated, each figured this out independently. And, in an homage to "Back to the Future", Dean managed to send his brother a message through time, leaving his brother a message in the house where he was squatting.

"You Shook Me All Night Long" was perfect for this scene. The same music was used in the introduction to "Lazarus Rising" in season 4.

After spending the night with Lydia, Dean went back to her home to retrieve the flask he left there. He saw her baby, Emma, who was not there the night before and was speaking in full sentences. A little later, he saw Emma again, who was about five years old. This was Dean's description of the situation when speaking to Sam.

Sam killed Emma and the Amazon masquerading as a detective, but when the brothers went to stop the rest of the tribe, the rest of the Amazons had cleared out. The brothers referenced that they had still found no trace of them in the next episode, "Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie".

When the papers were moved, the one on top identified the daughter of an Amazon as the one that killed the father. This was not the only indication that a ghost might have been tagging along with the brothers. In "Adventures in Babysitting", Dean thought Sam had drunk his beer which was suddenly empty.

Dean's conversations with Frank always provided comic relief. Complaining about having to use a pay phone, Dean also said, "I'm getting the clap off this thing just touching it."
