1. According to the first series of 'Only Fools and Horses', what was the age difference between Del and Rodney?

In the first episode of 'Only Fools and Horses', Rodney's age was 23. In the second episode of 'Only Fools and Horses', Del's age was revealed as 35. In the first episode, Del said there was 13 years between them. Interestingly, Although the age difference between Del & Rodney was 12-13 years, There was 21 years difference between the two actors who played Del & Rodney.

The two men meet in the pilot episode and at the time Rodney can't be bothered correcting Trigger calling him "Dave". Rodney assures Trigger that he has checked his birth certificate and passport; his name is definitely "Rodney"! This episode is unusual for another reason: when the chairman announces he needs a new vice-chairman, Trigger calls out "I nominate Rodney." he's finally got Rodney's name right. But Rodney is annoyed about being nominated and doesn't notice!

I doubt anyone could have guessed his career would turn so successfully from TV to film. He is a very good actor and made Roy Slater very hate-able.

"With financial advisers like that," Del grumbles "Who needs a bleeding recession?!"

Slater returns to Peckham after being posted away for several years. But not as a patrolman, he is now a newly-promoted Detective Inspector. He is looking for a stolen microwave, and meets Rodney who (not knowing Slater's profession) invites his brother's old classmate back to the flat. Slater spots the stolen microwave and "invites" all three Trotters down to the station to explain. He can only charge Del with receiving stolen goods, but he threatens to plant drugs on Rodney unless Del volunteers the actual thief's name. Del turns pale knowing he and Rodney will spend at least a year in prison and poor Granddad will be left alone in their dangerous neighbourhood. He has no choice. But he will only co-operate if Slater grants him an Immunity from Prosecution. "I'll get it arranged right away Derek!" Slater cackles. He knows once Del signs that bit of paper he can use him in the future for whatever he likes, or he'd let it be known on the streets Del is an informer. He laughs "Oh we're going to have a good future together you and I, Del, I can feel it!" Once Delboy has signed the Immunity, and Roy Slater has finished gloating, he asks "Who nicked the microwave off the back of the lorry?" Del smiles and said "_I_ did." motioning the signed agreement. Slater is almost in tears.

The official OFAH website on bbc.co.uk has character profiles and Boycie is listed as Aubrey Boyce. Boycie is played by John Challis. He's my least favourite character, but Marlene and Duke make up for him. Marlene and Boycie's son is called Tyler. The family are now featured in a spin off comedy called "The Green, Green Grass".

So be careful!" and leaves. Mickey and Rodney were planning on bidding for some glass goblets but Rodney changes his mind. They should bid for lot number 37 instead! Del's obviously trying to put them off because it's something valuable that he's after. But what does Lot 37 turn out to be? A load of old scrap iron! Del laughs "Well don't say I didn't warn you!" It turns out the elder Trotter was selling this rubbish in the first place. "What are these things?" demands Mickey. Del admits "Those are lawnmower engines. But, listen," he leans closer and whispers "They're not ordinary lawnmower engines." Hearing that, Mickey perks up. "They're BROKEN lawnmower engines!" Del chuckles.

Against Rodney's protestations, Del agrees to smuggle some diamonds from Amsterdam for Boycie. Slater has already caught all the previous couriers in the act and Boycie thought of using Del instead. At first everything seemed to be going well, except for Uncle Albert navigating the hired boat a tad, er...questionably. They eventually make it to Holland, pay for the diamonds and Albert eventually finds the right way back to England across the North Sea. But as soon as the three Trotters get back to London, Slater captures them and Boycie. But then, to everyone's astonishment, he lets them go and keeps the diamonds. Then Del realises the Dutch diamond seller is Slater's business partner - Slater has been running the smuggling racket all along! He lets someone else take the risk, arrests them back in England, and then sells the diamonds for himself. "You found me out, you rascal!" Slater cackles at Del. Slater is about to retire from the police and now he can retire in style. He laughs as he walks away from the stunned Trotters. He is still laughing, until he is arrested. It seems the police had figured out before Del what he was up to...
