One must wonder why Rodney does not look for a new best pal. Mickey embarrasses him around girls, never pays him money back and makes fun of Rodney and Del when business is bad. Still, Rodney is a forgiving soul (probably due to all the years of having Del as a brother).

Rodney is thinking of breaking up his partnership with Del and starting a new one with Mickey. Grandad shakes his head sadly "You wanna watch that young Pearce, he's a bit too fly for my liking." Grandad turns out to be quite right. Mickey flies overseas with Rodney's money for a holiday.

His mother gets a postcard from Spain saying Mickey has met a Swedish chick called "Helga". When Del and Grandad tell Rodney all this he says "Er...yeah, she's a business contact of ours."

Answer: His hat

Mickey's actor, Patrick Murray, first appeared in TV commercials. One was as a failing salesman wearing a hat similar to Mickey's. The image must have stuck because shortly afterwards he was cast in "Only Fools and Horses".

After some harsh words between the two brothers, Rodney leaves Del and join forces with Mickey. Next morning at the auction, Del sneaks up behind the two entrepreneurs and whispers "Listen, the one you wanna watch out for is Lot 37. It's just a load of old scrap iron. So be careful!" and leaves. Mickey and Rodney were planning on bidding for some glass goblets but Rodney changes his mind.

They should bid for lot number 37 instead! Del's obviously trying to put them off because it's something valuable that he's after.

But what does Lot 37 turn out to be? A load of old scrap iron! Del laughs "Well don't say I didn't warn you!" It turns out the elder Trotter was selling this rubbish in the first place. "What are these things?" demands Mickey. Del admits "Those are lawnmower engines. But, listen," he leans closer and whispers "They're not ordinary lawnmower engines." Hearing that, Mickey perks up. "They're BROKEN lawnmower engines!" Del chuckles.

Answer: Jevon

Jevon is a smooth-talking West Indian friend of Mickey and Rodney. He and Mickey occasionally sell things together, then one day decide to pair up full-time. In the pub one evening they spot Boycie the 2nd-hand car dealer. Mickey calls "Hey Boycie, you know that cortina you said we'd never get rid of? We just sold it!" Boycie exclaims "You should be ashamed of yourselves! That thing was a deathtrap." Mickey frowns "But...we bought it off you." Boycie gulps.

The two mates are arguing about this in the pub. Del is egging Rodney on to bet more and more. Rodney finally bets "a nice round 50" that he can find a girl before the upcoming dance. He has such bad luck looking for one that Del agrees to buy the bet off him.

He secretly asks an old ladyfriend of his to seduce Rodney. Rodney wins the bet, unaware this woman is also a snake-dancer - i.e. she produces one of her pet reptiles at the dance. Back home Del is pleased...until Rodney reveals the bet was actually for 50 PENCE not pounds.

Answer: Tells him a nervous girl prefers tough guys

Mickey and Jevon cannot believe it! Rodney has got himself a date with Nerys, the beautiful barmaid. Mickey says to Jevon "You'll never get a date with Nerys. Because my main man Rodney here has machismo. And Nerys, she prefers a bunch of fives to a bunch of flowers!" Rodney ponders this, and goes home to dress up like James Dean.

Another chap has been listening in and asks Mickey "Are you talking about 'Nervous Nerys'?" Mickey and Jevon burst into peals of laughter! "YES!" cries Mickey in hysterics.

Answer: Aikido

At the pub one night Mickey is boasting to Del "I'm taking night classes. I'm learning Aikido!" (Del, not terribly bright, says "Well go on then, say something.") Mickey claims he was walking home the other night and three thugs tried to mug him. But he left them all with cuts, bruises, stitches and broken arms! Del suddenly frowns. "Hang on, what's that smell? It's like cow dung. No, no, sheep. Or, hang on, it might be pig. Why, no!" he glares at Mickey "It's bull [deleted]!"

Actually it's a different Mickey. "Mental" Mickey Magee is the singer of a band Rodney plays drums for. This Mickey has a bit of a temper and Del's plan to manager his band fails miserably. Not least because Del implies they could sing Irish folk songs on St. Patricks night and they're actually punk rockers. Running away from the riot that night, Rodney complains to this older brother that the band leader bit his ear.

Another member of the band is Stew, played by actor David Thewlis who now plays Remus Lupin the "Harry Potter" series.

At first Del and Grandad think he is talking to Mickey. Because, when Rodney hangs up on his new girlfriend, Del asks "Who was that?" and Rodney gulps "Um, Mickey Pearce." Del is gullible and exclaims "I don't want to know! I don't want to know! I'd rather die in ignorance. Hey...hang about! Mickey Pearce is on 'oliday in France!"
