From Quiz "The Tudors" Season 4

Answer: Richard Rich

Cranmer is a young man and according to the Vatican, "a nobody". The Pope approves the appointment of Cranmer to Cardinal at Henry's request. Little does the Pope realize that Cranmer is really under the spell of Anne, Henry and their cause. He starts to actively push for the dissolution of Henry's marriage to Katherine to make way for his new bride, Anne. Although Cardinal Cranmer doesn't necessarily agree with Henry throughout the series, as evident towards the end, he does admire Anne and is with her to hear her last confession on the eve of her execution.

11. After becoming angry with the King of France for his extravagant boasts, Henry challenges him to what type of sporting event?

From Quiz "The Tudors" - Season 1

Answer: wrestling

After some extensive research (i.e. a Google search), Wikipedia confirms that this did actually take place, at the Field of the Cloth of Gold pageant. Somehow I can't quite see that happening in contemporary times, but a wrestling match between Nicolas Sarkozy and Queen Elizabeth would be pretty entertaining!

12. What was Queen Catherine's original nationality?

From Quiz "The Tudors" - Episode 1

Answer: Spanish

Catherine of Aragon was the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabela of Spain and the aunt of Spanish King Charles. She had originally married Henry's older brother Arthur to seal an alliance between England and Spain.

17. What color is the gown Anne Boleyn wears when she is created Marquess Of Pembroke?

From Quiz "The Tudors" Comprehensive Quiz

Answer: Red

This occurs in season 2, episode 2. I love that dress!

18. Which man from Katherine Howard's past comes to court looking for a position?

From Quiz "The Tudors" Season 4

Answer: Francis Dereham

What an idiotic move on his part. He would have been better off staying far far away from Katherine. William Compton was a friend of Henry's. He dies in season 1 from the sweating sickness. Edward Stafford was the Duke of Buckingham. He is executed in season 1. Henry Howard is a relative of Katherine's who returns to England this season.

19. Who is the last person to visit with Robert Aske before he is executed?

From Quiz "The Tudors" Season 3

Answer: His wife

His wife and son come to see him. He is bound in chains and his wife shoves their son out of the door because the sight is too distressing. Robert Aske is resigned to his fate and states that he deserves it. His wife is practically dragged out of the cell while screaming that he doesn't deserve this. Earlier he was visited by a priest. Robert Aske had a diamond sewn into his clothes (given to him earlier by Lady Mary) and asks to priest to give it to his wife, as he worries that his family will soon be destitute.

20. Queen Anne finds herself with child many times in season two but she fears that the King's attention will fall to other women while she is in dispose. Which lady in waiting does Anne encourage to the King's bed?

From Quiz "The Tudors" - Season Two

Answer: Madge

Madge is a lovable but somewhat dim lady in waiting. She is giddy and simple and probably pretty inexperienced. When Anne suggests that she become Henry's lover, immediately she is unsure of what to do, but at the Queen's encouragement, she agrees. Madge and Henry go riding together one day and when they stop for lunch, Henry seduces Madge. While it certainly does not please Anne to think of her husband with another woman, at least Madge is someone Anne can easily control. I found it funny how in season one, Anne was really the driving force behind Henry's separation from his wife, Katherine. Anne was the temptress with driving ambition and few scruples. But in season two I started to see Anne as a victim. She truly loves the King but she starts to experience the same pain and betrayal that Katherine was forced to endure in season one.

21. As a 'thank you' for services rendered to the church, the Pope bestows what title upon Henry?

From Quiz "The Tudors" - Season 1

The Pope granted Henry the title after Henry wrote a defense of the Church from Martin Luther. He also provided political and religious support to the Pope. The title is more than a little ironic, considering the schism that would ultimately occur.

22. By what nickname did Thomas More call Henry?

From Quiz "The Tudors" - Episode 1

Answer: Harry

Sir Thomas More was a lawyer and statesman and served Henry as Lord Chancellor. His refusal to accept Henry as the supreme head of the Church of England caused him to be executed as a traitor. He was later canonized a saint by the Catholic and Anglican Churches.

23. Who tells Mary that King Henry's marriage to her mother was declared invalid and Mary is no longer a princess?

From Quiz "The Tudors" Comprehensive Quiz

Answer: Thomas Boleyn

Ouch! I wonder if having him deliver the news was meant as an added insult, considering that he is the father of her new stepmother, Anne Boleyn.

24. What is the last thing Katherine Howard says before laying her head on the executioner's block?

From Quiz "The Tudors" Season 4

Answer: "Life is very beautiful"

She did say the line about wanting to die Culpepper's wife BEFORE she knelt on the scaffold. The crowd was quite shocked by her words. She looked up at the sky and said "Life is very beautiful" right before laying her head on the block, which was still dripping with Lady Rochford's blood. Poor girl, she really had no idea what she got herself into!

25. How many mistresses does Sir Francis Bryan take over the course of the season?

From Quiz "The Tudors" Season 3

Answer: Two

From Quiz "The Tudors" - Season Two

Answer: her daughter, Mary

Katherine is so ill she starts to hallucinate. She calls out to her daughter Mary but she isn't really there. In fact, Mary hasn't seen her mother in years. Mary was a little girl when Katherine was banished from court and Henry forbid the two from writing or visiting each other. After Katherine passes away, Anne is notified of the news and is overjoyed. But the Spanish Ambassador learns that Katherine's death may have been a result of poison. Later, Anne and her brother George speak privately and hint to the fact that they were in fact responsible for Katherine's death.

28. In season 2, why do Anne and her sister Mary part ways?

From Quiz "The Tudors" Comprehensive Quiz

Answer: Anne banishes her from court

Mary actually got off easy, considering what happened to Anne and George later that season. She remarried someone of a lower rank without asking for Anne's consent. Her father cuts off her allowance and when Mary appeals to Anne for sympathy, Anne banishes her instead.

29. "Hearts? You play with hearts?" Who says this?

From Quiz "The Tudors" Season 3

Answer: Anne of Cleves

She asks this when Charles Brandon is teaching her a card game. She asks him to show her some of the King's hobbies.

30. With the Queen pregnant again, Henry turns his attention to Lady Jane Seymour. He offers her many gifts and purses, most of which she refuses. What one gift does she accept?

From Quiz "The Tudors" - Season Two

Answer: locket

Similar to the locket Anne gave to Henry during their courtship, this locket is gold with a large blue stone in the center. When opened, the locket has a portrait of Henry in it. Jane cherishes this gift but foolishly wears it in front of Queen Anne, who notices it immediately. Anne rips the locket from Jane's neck and throws it to the floor. Later, Madge retrieves the discarded locket and returns it to a grateful Jane.
