Answer: Uncle

Henry's uncle was brutally stabbed to death by a group of French assassins as he entered a palace on a diplomatic mission. Henry was outraged and demanded war against France.
2. What was Queen Catherine's original nationality?

Catherine of Aragon was the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabela of Spain and the aunt of Spanish King Charles. She had originally married Henry's older brother Arthur to seal an alliance between England and Spain.
3. Who was the first woman in the series to be seen in bed with Henry?

Answer: Lady Blount

Lady Elizabeth Blount was a married, lady-in-waiting to Queen Catherine. When asked by Henry what her husband would do if he found out about their romance, she stated that he would put her in a nunnery. Henry did attempt to visit his wife's bedchamber, however, the Queen was in her chapel praying the rosary.
4. By what nickname did Thomas More call Henry?

Answer: Harry

Sir Thomas More was a lawyer and statesman and served Henry as Lord Chancellor. His refusal to accept Henry as the supreme head of the Church of England caused him to be executed as a traitor. He was later canonized a saint by the Catholic and Anglican Churches.
5. Which Duke secretly challenged Henry's right to be king, and plotted his assassination?

Answer: Buckingham

Buckingham claimed a right to the English throne as a direct descendant of Edward II, and became increasingly resentful of Henry's rule. The Duke was richer and more powerful than Henry and posed a major threat to the young and ambitious king.
6. What was Wolsey's ultimate ambition to become?

Answer: Pope

A close and trusted foreign policy advisor to Henry, Thomas Cardinal Wolsey dissuaded the king from declaring war against France. The series implies that this move was to gain the favor of French cardinals for a future papal election, however, this theory is discredited by many historians.

Answer: Mary

The ambitious Thomas was all too happy with Henry's assignment to make the arrangements for a meeting with the king of France in Calais, as it would give his two daughters the opportunity to meet the young, womanizing King of England.
8. In which of the following sports did Henry not participate?

Answer: Boxing

Henry was an avid player of a game which traced its origin to 12th century France. The indoor version later became known as 'real tennis' to distinguish it from 'lawn tennis'.

Queen Catherine expressed her dislike of her husband's facial hair growth. She also did not like the idea of Henry agreeing to betroth their daughter Mary to the dauphin of France without obtaining her consent.
10. As episode 1 ended, a plan to murder Henry was being rehearsed. By what means was the king to be killed?

Answer: Stabbing

Buckingham had dispatched men to arrange for the bribing of the king's guards. He then acted out a plan whereby he would hide a dagger in his clothing, bow before the king, then stab him to death.
