From Quiz ""Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Allround"

Super Smash Bros. (N64) Trivia Questions

1. Which company developed "Super Smash Bros" for the N64?

From Quiz
"Super Smash Bros" (N64)

Answer: HAL Laboratory

Nintendo was the publisher for "Super Smash Bros". It was released in North America on April 26th 1999 and was given an "E" rating by ESRB.

2. How many secret characters are there?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." Trivia

Answer: Four

The four secret characters are Ness, Captain Falcon, Luigi, and Jigglypuff. You have to do some sort of event to get them all.

3. In which year was "Super Smash Bros." released?

From Quiz "Super Smash Knowledge" (N64)

Answer: 1999

This game was followed by the very successful "Super Smash Bros. Melee" for the Nintendo GameCube. "Super Smash Bros." is sometimes referred to as "Super Smash Bros. 64" (or simply "Smash Bros. 64") to distinguish it from the other games in the series.

4. Which character always appears as the first character to fight in classic mode?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros" (N64)

Answer: Link

You also always face Link on the Hyrule Castle stage. You can face him on difficulties ranging from very easy to very hard.

5. What do the C buttons let the character do when pressed in a match?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Basics

Answer: Jump

An alternate way of jumping is tilting the Analog Stick up (the way I do it). You attack with A, the special move is done by pressing B, and the Z button is responsible for the shield. Strangely enough (depending on one's opinion), the sequel of this game (Melee) uses C-Buttons for immediate Smash Attacks, not for jumps.

6. On stage number what do you battle Master Hand (1-player Mode)? (Count the three bonus stages 'Break the targets, ...')

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Allround

Answer: Fourteen

The first stage is the battle with Link, the second stage the battle against a team of 18 Yoshis. The third stage lets you fight against Fox, then comes the 'Break the Targets' bonus stage (the fourth one). The fifth stage is against the Mario Bros., the sixth one against Pikachu, in the seventh stage you fight against a huge Donkey Kong. Then comes the 'Board the platforms' bonus stage (would be the eight one). After that you fight a Kirby-Team (9), Samus (10), Metal Mario (11), then you are at the bonus stage 'Race to the finish' (12), then comes the Fighting Polygon Team (13) and then the Master Hand (14).

7. How do you get Jigglypuff?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." Trivia

Answer: Beat 1-player mode

Jigglypuff is a balloon Pokemon from the game "Pokemon". Jigglypuff has some sleep-based moves and gets killed if it's shield runs out.

8. How many characters are there to play as, altogether?

From Quiz "Super Smash Knowledge" (N64)

Answer: Twelve

Some of these characters are Mario, Samus, Kirby and Pikachu, who also starred in the second "Super Smash Bros." game on the Gamecube. Each of the "Super Smash Bros." characters were taken from games on the Nintendo that had already been released.

9. Quite possibly the most persistent character as the whole cast goes. This fighter can take up to almost 200% to 300% and still not get knocked off. He has appeared as early as the NES and is the only character capable of having a kamikaze toss.

From Quiz Super Smashing N64

Answer: Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong was the second character to appear with Mario as technically Cranky Kong was the first in "Donkey Kong". Donkey Kong later appeared as Donkey Kong Jr. in the game "Donkey Kong Jr.". Donkey Kong can be a kamikaze thrower as he can pick up his enemies and jump off a cliff with them still in his clutches. He is the most powerful character as strength goes but he is also the slowest.

10. When I use my down-B, you'd better not be close, unless you have the fan, then I could be toast.

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) Who Am I?

Answer: Jigglypuff

Jigglypuff's down-B is almost as powerful as the bat and can send enemies flying if they are touching Jigglypuff when the move is used. The downside is that Jigglypuff goes to sleep for about 3 seconds after, so if she missed a free shot can be taken. Another problem is that if Jigglypuff's shield is broken she gets launched in the air and will die unless she encounters an obstacle. The fan is good at breaking shields, which is why Jigglypuff "could be toast" if you have it.

11. How many targets do you have to destroy in the 'Target Test' bonus stages?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Basics

Answer: Ten

There is a different stage for every character, but they all have to destroy ten targets each in a certain period of time. This mode can be accessed in the 'Single Player' options. You also play it in the single player game, where you can earn bonus points, but there is a time limit of two minutes.

12. What do you see in the ending picture of Link (1-player Mode)? (The picture after the credits!)

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Allround

Answer: Link leaning against Hyrule Castle

There is a different ending pic for every character. At that point the narrator (I'm calling that speaker 'narrator') says 'Congratulations!', but if you managed to get over a million points, he says 'Incredible!'.

13. How do you get Captain Falcon?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." Trivia

Answer: Beat 1-Player mode in 20 minutes or less

Captain Falcon is from the "F-Zero Racing" series. He has moves that involve shouting out 'FALCON'.

14. Which character's Primary Weapon is a sword?

From Quiz "Super Smash Knowledge" (N64)

Answer: Link

Link's sword is called the Master Sword. He uses this sword through most of the game series, "Legend of Zelda".

15. This item inflicts some of the highest damage in the game. It has a time limit when used, but it can usually knock characters at full life off the level in three hits. Which weapon is it?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." for N64

Answer: Hammer

While being extremely powerful, there are a few downsides to using it. The player loses his second and third jumps, it cannot be dropped once picked up, and the character's agility is very limited. Even so, it is definitely worth it to use this item, especially on the smaller stages.

16. This hidden character is only credited with having only one game in their profile. The characters "Up B" move does not give them a triple jump unless used wisely.

From Quiz Super Smashing N64

Answer: Ness

Ness the little psychic kid from "Earthbound" for the SNES is definitely the hardest character to get. You have to beat Normal mode or higher with only 3 lives (the max for the requirement) without continuing. Quite a feat even for the pros.

17. Who is the first character you fight in the Single Player game?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Basics

Answer: Link

If you're not wanting to lose, Link shouldn't be any problem, not even on 'Very Hard'. Mario (along with Luigi) is the fourth enemy you fight, Fox the third one and a team of eighteen Yoshis the second one.

18. What does the flag that Mario has in his hand in his ending pic say?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Allround

Answer: 'No. 1'

It says 'No. 1', even if you beat the game with the lowest score possible (yeah... those pictures are not changed by your amount of points). It says 'Smaaaaaash!' (I never counted how many 'a's there were) in Luigi's ending pic, where he smashes Mario on the head.

19. How do you get Luigi?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." Trivia

Answer: Beat Bonus 1 with all default characters

Luigi is Mario's brother. His attacks are very similar to Mario's, and if you're right next to someone when you use UP+B they'll fly up in a fiery wrath.

20. What are the names of the secret characters?

From Quiz "Super Smash Knowledge" (N64)

Answer: Ness, Luigi, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon

Each of these characters can be unlocked by doing certain mission or challenges to battle them. If you win the battle then you win the character to play as.

21. What is the name of the final boss in single player mode?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." for N64

Answer: master hand

Instead of building up damage and knocking him off the edge, the player has to bring Master Hand's life down to zero. Master Hand, which is a giant white glove, uses a number of attacks to try and knock you away, such as punching, flicking, shooting missiles, and slapping.

22. Using a vast variety of sci-fi weaponery, this character is probably Donkey Kong's opposite character. However in this game the fighter finally gets to show their moves.

From Quiz Super Smashing N64

Answer: Fox

Fox McCloud has been the star of both "Star Fox" for the Super Nintendo and "Star Fox 64" for the N64. His father was James McCloud and was revealed that he was still alive in "Star Fox 64" but his whereabouts are unknown now. He is Donkey Kong's opposite as he is the fastest character but he is also the weakest as damage goes.

23. What is special about Jigglypuff's Up-B special move?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Basics

Answer: Enemies fall asleep

There is no move where Jigglypuff heals herself or boosts to the stage. Her Down-B special move can knock enemies off the stage though (you need to stand 'in' them before doing it). Jigglypuff's Up-B move lets her sing and enemies standing nearby will fall asleep.

24. How do you unlock Ness?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." Trivia

Answer: Beat Normal 1-player or higher with 3 stocks or less

Ness made his underage, baseball-capped debut in "Earthbound". Most of Ness's attacks are psychic based.

25. Which game, which starred a locked character, was on the Super Famicom?

From Quiz "Super Smash Knowledge" (N64)

Answer: "Earthbound"

"EarthBound" is a sequel to the original "Mother", a Super Famicom/Super Nintendo Entertainment System title released only in Japan. "Mother" and "EarthBound" are not directly connected. One of the only connections plotwise between the two is Giygas, the primary antagonist in both games, who was also significantly changed between the first and second games.

26. Which item can knock you off the stage with one hit, even if your damage meter is at 0% (at damage ratio 100%)?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Basics

Answer: Baseball bat

The Baseball Bat's Smash-A attack is really powerful. A hit with this weapon blows any enemy off the stage, as long as there's no obstacle in the way. It takes long to strike, though. A Bob-Omb won't really kill you if you have 0% damage, and neither do the other two items.

27. How do you get rid of the special B-Power after Kirby inhaled an enemy and spit him out with B?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." (N64) - Allround

Answer: Do the taunt move (L)

When you inhale an enemy with Kirby, you can gain the enemy's B ability by pressing B. Pressing A will spit him out and Kirby won't get any ability. Depending on the character he got the ability the top of Kirby's head will look different (ex. a Mario hat with the Fireball ability or a helmet with Samus' Charge Beam ability).

28. How many default characters are in "Super Smash Bros."?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." Trivia

Answer: Eight

The default characters are Mario, Kirby, Yoshi, Samus, DK, Link, Fox, and Pikachu. Default characters are characters that you start the game out with and don't have to do anything to get.

29. Which game, which starred a locked character, was a space racing type?

From Quiz "Super Smash Knowledge" (N64)

Answer: "F-Zero"

The "F-Zero" gameplay concept consists of high-speed racing at speeds that can exceed 2000 km/h. The series has been known for its unique characters and settings, difficult gameplay, stirring original music and pushing the limits of its technology to be one of the fastest racing games ever.

30. In each stage there is some kind of obstacle that either hurts players or attempts to push them off the edge. What do players have to watch out for in Link's level, Hyrule Castle?

From Quiz "Super Smash Bros." for N64

Answer: Tornadoes

The tornado can appear randomly at any part of the level, even the platforms, and launches players into the air if they get caught up in it. If their damage is high enough, the tornado can actually throw a player off the stage.
