"Super Smash Bros." (N64) Who Am I? Quiz

I'll tell you something about one of the characters (sometimes in rhyme), and you type in the character. No character will be used twice, and they might not all be playable characters. This quiz should be easy if you've played enough. (USA names only.)

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Just to reiterate, each answer will only be used once. This means that if you don't know one, skip it, come back to it later, and your choices should be narrowed down (i.e. Process of Elimination). Here we go. I am the ruler of the "Smash Bros." world and I eagerly await battle champions at the end of story mode.

Answer: Master Hand

The Master Hand is an unplayable character that the player must defeat in order to win story mode. Unlike all the rest of the characters, who must be defeated by being knocked off the stage, the Master Hand has 300HP (hit points) and you must defeat him by dealing damage without dying yourself.
2. If you're not familiar with my game you may be surprised to find out that I'm actually a girl. If you're near the edge when I'm trying to recover, you might be "screwed."

Answer: Samus

Samus is a girl from the "Metroid" series, a sci-fi game that takes place on other planets. Samus's screw attack can be used to recover or to deal a reasonable amount of damage (though with little knockback) to opponents. Her signature B-move involves loading up a giant laser blast that can be fired at opponents from across the screen. Samus can also roll while loading by pressing Z.
3. When I use my down-B, you'd better not be close, unless you have the fan, then I could be toast.

Answer: Jigglypuff

Jigglypuff's down-B is almost as powerful as the bat and can send enemies flying if they are touching Jigglypuff when the move is used. The downside is that Jigglypuff goes to sleep for about 3 seconds after, so if she missed a free shot can be taken.

Another problem is that if Jigglypuff's shield is broken she gets launched in the air and will die unless she encounters an obstacle. The fan is good at breaking shields, which is why Jigglypuff "could be toast" if you have it.
4. I could be the most popular Nintendo character. My smash moves are strong, and my headbutt is deadly...but my B-move is not very good at all.

Answer: Mario

Mario...Nintendo's signature character. He has great smash moves, including a headbutt that can kill at low percentages. His B-move is pretty bad - a weak fireball that does ~5% damage. His down-B can do a good amount of damage if the full move is gotten off, and his up-B has OK range.
5. My name is a misnomer, but I can live with it, I can grab you and go kamakaze, and you won't be able to do...(anything).

Answer: Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong is, as we all know, not a donkey but in fact a bongo-playing gorilla. He has very strong moves, including a massive punch he can load up, and great horizontal recovery, but he is slow, easily comboed, and has very bad vertical recovery. Like in the poem clue, he can grab you and jump off the edge with you, although many times you can escape by button mashing and make it back to the edge in time.
6. I'm the fastest character in the game. 'Nuff said.

Answer: Captain Falcon

Like the question says, C-Falc is the fastest dasher in the game. He has very powerful offensive moves including a spike and a powerful up-B that acts as a throws. His downside? He's easily comboed and has awful recovery.
7. I may be the hardest character in the game to use, but I'm still quite good. My best move is when I use myself as a projectile.

Answer: Ness

Ness' up-B is PK thunder, which shoots a controllable bolt of lightning out of his head. Alone, this bolt does around 6% damage, but when Ness uses it to hit himself into other players, it can do around 25% damage with high knockback. Ness also has a unique healing move (down-B) which he can use to heal when hit by lasers, elemental moves, and similar attacks.
8. I'm wily and cunning, that's definitely true, be careful what you throw at me, it might come bouncing back at you.

Answer: Fox

Fox's down-B is a reflector that can reflect all projectiles back at the thrower (or anyone else who gets in the way). It does not "convert" pokeballs though. Fox's other strengths are his speed and up-kick (up-A in the air) which can be used to kill opponents above him. (This ability really discourages aerial attacks, as this move has high priority.)
9. My form can change based on my opponent. I'm the best at fending off the hammer, no question about it.

Answer: Kirby

Kirby's B-move allows him to borrow the other player's B-move until his death or until he uses his taunt (L). This can be very annoying, being attacked by your own move. Kirby with Jigglypuff's punch (and his own up-B) can provide unparalleled recovery potential. Kirby's down-B turns him into a brick which drops on the other players.

This can be used even when the other player has a hammer and will likely kill them if they are near the edge. Kirby's final cutter (up-B) can provide good vertical recovery in addition to his jumps, and his side-smash has unexpected reach. Kirby is undoubtedly one of the best characters in the game.
10. I have an ace up my sleeve. My recovery move doubles as a fiery blow with high skyward knockback.

Answer: Luigi

Luigi's up-B can star-KO at fairly low percentages. However, much like Jigglypuff's down-B, the enemy must be touching Luigi in order for the move to work, and like almost all other up-B moves, it leaves Luigi helpless after use. This is really Luigi's only major plus over Mario (except for maybe a bit of speed), but hey, Nintendo has never been too kind to Mario's less known brother.
11. I can take the shape of any playable character I want. What is the three-word name of the group to which I belong?

Answer: Fighting Polygon Team

You have to fight 30 members of the Fighting Polygon team in the stage before the Master Hand. This can be quite difficult on Very Hard mode, and if you don't get any hearts or maxim tomatoes, there's a good chance you'll die at least once. The good news is, they'll ignore items for a few seconds, giving you time to go get them. They also usually die in one hit.
12. I have very strong smash attacks and a large home stage, but I have the worst jumping ability in the game.

Answer: Link

Link really can't jump. This is his main downfall, as he has good ranged smash attacks, the ability to create bombs, and a useful boomerang. This huge weakness was fixed a little bit in later games, but in the original "Smash Bros." he is the bottom of the barrel.
13. I'm small and fast, and I was ranked as the best original "Smash Bro" for my fantastic edge-guarding ability.

Answer: Pikachu

Pikachu is great. His up-B (Quick Attack) provides great recovery in all directions, his smash attacks can send opponents flying, and his annoying aerials can keep an opponent off the edge for good. You can spam his down-B (thunder) to knock back nearby enemies.
14. My annoying B-move can score some cheap kills; however I lack a recovery up-B move and can be taken advantage of when off the edge.

Answer: Yoshi

Yoshi can put you in an egg and sometimes drop you off the edge. He doesn't have an up-B recovery move and if he is hit after his second jump he can't jump again. Because of this, Yoshi has a very high second jump and resists knockback more than most other characters. If you're good with Yoshi's Egg Toss (up-B) you can edgeguard very well and be a big nuisance to players trying to recover. (His eggs are also good for stealing kills in Time mode.)
15. I appear in story mode only, resist knockback, and best yet, you get no allies to fight me.

Answer: Metal Mario

Metal Mario has the same attacking moves and attack power as Mario but resists knockback until he is at very high percentages. He falls quickly though, so knocking him off the edge is likely to kill him at times when it wouldn't normally kill any other character. The best way to beat him is to keep him on his upper platform for as long as possible. (Or if you're DK, you can grab him, walk off the edge, and let go when you're close to dying. You'll be able to stay in the air longer and he'll eventually die before you because of his high weight. This trick also works with Kirby using his B-move when off the edge.)

I hope you enjoyed the quiz.
