Bamboo is a grass that can grow to over 6 feet tall. The pandas eat over 15 different varieties. Because of the shrinking area used for bamboo, the pandas ability to find a new source to use is dwindling. The government is working on making "bamboo corridors" that will allow easier movement by the pandas to new sources of bamboo.

The legend states that an all white panda cub was rescued by a shepherd who died in the rescue. To honor her, the bears threw ashes in the wind. Ashes mixed with tears turned some of their fur black.

She was born September of 1965. Her mother was Li Li. She gave birth to another cub a year later. The first captive panda born outside of China was in Mexico in 1980.
