Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Soup harm are kit

Answer: Supermarket

Even small towns seem to have at least one large supermarket these days, where one can shop for almost every type of grocery and other things as well. The days of the small grocery store or butcher's shop seem to be gone, though farmers' markets still flourish in many places.
2. Sit yee-haw ell

Answer: City hall

'New' City Hall in Toronto, Ontario (opened in September 1965) is a striking building, with a flying saucer-like central structure flanked by two curving towers that seem to embrace it. Situated close to the 'Old' City Hall which it replaced, it presides over Nathan Phillips Square, where each winter an outdoor skating rink draws people in search of outdoor fun.
3. Moo faith heeder

Answer: Movie theatre

Many small town movie theatres have closed their doors as people have found other ways to watch movies. Some of those that remain have split their once roomy auditoria into smaller screening rooms, to allow for showing multiple features.
4. Best herm an awl

Answer: Bus terminal

The bus terminal might be the hub for public transportation in a city, or the place to catch a coach to get out of a small town (if only for a weekend). Some terminals serve both purposes.
5. Dare he

Answer: Dairy

When I was very small, the local dairy delivered milk to the door in a horse-drawn wagon! The horse was soon replaced by a motor vehicle, and later still home delivery stopped altogether. These days one gets milk at the supermarket, along with the rest of the groceries.
6. Horse pat all

Answer: Hospital

A well-staffed and efficient hospital is essential to the well-being of any community. They are not my favourite places, but I'm happy to know that one is there in the event it is needed!
7. Boot he's Al awn

Answer: Beauty salon

Call it a beauty salon or beauty parlor, or hairdresser or barber, by any name, this is a place to go to be pampered if only a little bit. Just having someone wash your hair can do wonders for a person, as can having a new hair style or a manicure. It's also a place to share some gossip and catch up with friends!
8. Polly's day shun

Answer: Police station

Law-abiding citizens might never have reason to enter this place, and some people might fear the police, but in my own experience the police are there to help the ordinary citizen and should be supported.
9. Ice cool

Answer: High school

When I was in high school, Ontario still offered Grade 13, so I spent five years there preparing to go on to university. Four year high school courses have become the norm in most parts of North America in the early 21st century.
10. Play say sieve whir gyp

Answer: Places of worship

Whatever their faith may be, people have built places to congregate and worship according to that faith for centuries. Even small towns may have many such buildings.
