Adam Levine was born on 18th March 1979. He co-founded the band Kara's Flowers in 1994, after James Valentine joined in 2002. The band was later renamed Maroon 5. Interestingly, even though the band's first two albums, 'Songs About Jane' (2002) and 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long' (2007), both reached number one in the UK album charts, their first UK number one single wasn't achieved until they released 'Payphone' from their fourth album 'Overexposed' in 2012.

Britney Spears was born on 2nd December 1981. By 2014, Britney had achieved five number one singles in the UK, compared to four in the US. Her first single '...Baby One More Time' charted at number one for both the UK and US charts by 1999.

Christoph Waltz was born in Vienna, Austria on 4th October 1956. His first Oscar win was for Best Supporting Actor in 'Inglourious Basterds' (2009). In 'Django Unchained' (2012), he played a bounty hunter who purchased Django from slave traders, and offered him his freedom if he assisted him in identifying a wanted man (who worked on a plantation where Django was once owned.)

Drew Barrymore was born on 22nd February 1975. She made her debut at age seven in her godfather Steven Spielberg's film 'E.T.' (1982). She made her directorial debut in 2009 with 'Whip It', starring Ellen Page.

Ewan McGregor was born on 31st March 1971. He is probably best-known for his role in the second trilogy of 'Star Wars' as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ewan has been a UNICEF ambassador. He also rode his motorbike in 'The Long Way Around' (2004) and 'The Long Way Down' (2007), and visited some UNICEF projects to raise awareness of the charity and its work.

Fanny Cradock was born on 26th February 1909. Her first cookery show aired in 1955. I am most familiar with her Christmas cookery series, which is usually shown on food channels in the run up to Christmas despite being decades old!

Gary Barlow was born on 20th January 1971. Gary was a judge on 'The X Factor' for three years, between 2011-13. For the first two years, his acts (Marcus Collins and Christopher Maloney) were runners-up and in the final year his act Rough Copy reached the semifinals. His first solo UK number one single was 'Forever Love' in 1996, only five months after the breakup of Take That.

Helen Mirren was born on 26th July 1945. She was nominated for Oscar awards for 'The Madness of King George' (1994), 'Gosford Park' (2001), 'The Queen' (2006) and 'The Last Station' (2009). She won Best Actress at the 79th Annual Academy Awards for her role in 'The Queen', in which she played Queen Elizabeth II.

Idris Elba was born on 6th September 1972. He co-directed and also appeared in the music video for 'Lover of the Light' (2012). He is best known for his TV roles in 'The Wire' (2002-4) and 'Luther' (2010). He received a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in the film 'The Long Walk to Freedom' (2013).

Jennifer Lawrence was born on 15th August 1990, and she first came to attention in 'Winter's Bone' (2010) for which she was nominated in the Best Actress Oscar category. She won her first Oscar in 2012 for 'Silver Linings Playbook' and was nominated again the following year for 'American Hustle', another David O. Russell collaboration.

Kiefer Sutherland was born on 21st December 1966. His most famous television role is perhaps Jack Bauer in '24'. His first film role was in 'Stand by Me' (1986), alongside Wil Wheaton and River Phoenix.

Born Stefani Germanotta on March 28th 1986, Lady Gaga took her stage name from the Queen song 'Radio Gaga'. I have to admire the way she dresses without a care for what anybody else thinks! She has had several UK number ones, including 'Just Dance', 'Poker Face', 'Bad Romance' and 'Telephone'.

Michael Buble was born on 9th September 1975. He released his self-titled debut album in 2003. His song 'Haven't Met You Yet' (2009) reached number five on the UK singles chart.

Born Natalie Hershlag on June 9th 1981, her first role was opposite Jean Reno and Gary Oldman in 'Leon' (1994). She has also appeared in 'Stars Wars Episode 1-3' (1999, 2003, and 2005) as Padme Amidala, as well as Thor's love interest Jane Foster in 'Thor' (2011) and its sequel 'The Dark World' (2013).
