Question 1 of 10
1. Penn & Teller, masters of magic and illusion... so when Penn Jillette named his daughter, what magical name did he give her? I'd give you a clue but I'm visiting New England where someone stole my drink and the thief has to be caught first. Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. I loved Arthur Ashe; in the days when some players at Wimbledon were venting their spleens on court and abusing the umpires, Ashe came across as a true gentleman. He married a photographer so what snappy name did they give their daughter? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son, Brooklyn, was named after the New York Borough. Why did the former captain of England's football team call his first son after such an all-American place? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Rob Morrow's parents had fairly prosaic occupations - his mother was a dental hygienist and his father was in industrial lighting - but his own career in television and movies clearly affected his sense of humour. What would you call your daughter if your surname was Morrow? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. We all know that Michael Jackson gave his kids some pretty weird names but his brother Jermaine carved out his own niche in the royal hall of name shame. Which one of these names was given to a son of Jermaine's? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. When celebrities give their first child a weird name the chances are they're all going to be like that, which is fair enough - if it affected only one he or she would feel picked on. After three daughters with odd names what did the 'naked chef' Jamie Oliver call his son? Although it does sound like he'll be a good friend to his toys. Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. There are times when I wonder if celebrities should be allowed to have children at all, or if they are, then they should be forced to choose from a list of boring names. John Cougar Mellencamp has several children, one of whom was named...? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Shannyn Sossamon, star of 'A Knight's Tale', and her partner apparently didn't want to choose a name for their son, they wanted words instead. I'm not sure why an actress mother and book illustrator father would go looking in a laboratory for names, oops, for words but it sounds like they did. What was their first child called? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Ving Rhames, who came to fame in 'Pulp Fiction', adopted a short form of his own name (Irving) so you might think he'd be very conscious of the impact names can have. He certainly seemed to think names rule the world when he called his daughter something Judy Garland would have been proud to have thought of... which was? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Bono's daughters were named Jordan and Memphis Eve, and one of his sons was called John Abraham. So far so nearly normal. But before I rise to heaven in a whirlwind of amazement at the names celebrities call their children, what was the name Bono chose for his other son? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Penn & Teller, masters of magic and illusion... so when Penn Jillette named his daughter, what magical name did he give her? I'd give you a clue but I'm visiting New England where someone stole my drink and the thief has to be caught first.

Answer: Moxie Crimefighter

According to what Penn Jillette told CBS News, the proud parents of Moxie Crimefighter chose her second name so that if she was ever pulled over for a traffic offence she'd be able to tell the police that she was on their side, a crimefighter. I can only assume that one or both of the parents like Moxie, a drink produced in New England that was originally sold as a medicine. If I was a crimefighter I'd lock people up for giving weird names to their kids.
2. I loved Arthur Ashe; in the days when some players at Wimbledon were venting their spleens on court and abusing the umpires, Ashe came across as a true gentleman. He married a photographer so what snappy name did they give their daughter?

Answer: Camera

I do hope that child didn't race round the house yelling "Action!" or "Say Cheese!", and if she did her parents would have had no excuse for not doing what she said. If my mother had named me after her job I would have been called "Housework" or "Murdering food".
3. David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son, Brooklyn, was named after the New York Borough. Why did the former captain of England's football team call his first son after such an all-American place?

Answer: He was conceived there

What were they thinking? It's hard enough for any child, no matter how old, to imagine that their parents once, er, knew each other well enough to produce a child but to carry that knowledge every day as your name? They might just as well have called him Slap&Tickle.

(If you guessed "His mother sang there" shame on you, we all know that Posh never sang anywhere, including when she was in the Spice Girls!)
4. Rob Morrow's parents had fairly prosaic occupations - his mother was a dental hygienist and his father was in industrial lighting - but his own career in television and movies clearly affected his sense of humour. What would you call your daughter if your surname was Morrow?

Answer: Tu

Tu Morrow (go on, say it out loud) was born in 2001. Let's hope she finds it as funny as her father did, although to be fair he openly acknowledged the choice was deliberate (you could do that by chance?) saying it was a continuation of the tradition set by his wife's name. Her name? Debbon Ayre. So really the grandparents were to blame... Tu should sue!
5. We all know that Michael Jackson gave his kids some pretty weird names but his brother Jermaine carved out his own niche in the royal hall of name shame. Which one of these names was given to a son of Jermaine's?

Answer: Jermajesty

It beggars belief doesn't it? I suppose it might be an attempt to render "Her Majesty" into what Americans think is a Cockney accent but firstly he gave that name to his son who wasn't a 'her' at all and secondly Dick Van Dyke was much better at murdering The Queen's English than anyone else on earth so, Jermaine, leave the odd sounds to the experts!

Answer: Buddy Bear Maurice

First Poppy Honey Rosie, second Daisy Boo Pamela, and third Petal Blossom Rainbow... three girls followed by Buddy Bear Maurice. I couldn't make that up so it must be true. Petal Blossom's the one I feel sorry for, at least the others have one mundane name to switch to when their school friends start calling them names. Oh wait, what harm could a bit of name-calling do that their parents didn't do already?
7. There are times when I wonder if celebrities should be allowed to have children at all, or if they are, then they should be forced to choose from a list of boring names. John Cougar Mellencamp has several children, one of whom was named...?

Answer: Speck Wildhorse

I suppose if John Mellencamp was of Native American descent the name Wildhorse might be appropriate but according to his biography his family was German so Hans might have been easier to understand. But Speck? Perhaps he really wanted to call him Dusty...

Answer: Audio Science

Shannyn Sossamon was reported as saying "We were going to call him Science, but thought it might get shortened to Sci, as in Simon." She's right, it might have been. Or they could just have called him Simon. Perhaps it's because she used to play the drums - drummers often go deaf so maybe she needed to fix the hi fi. I really hope that child makes a LOT of noise! Not to mention noxious chemistry experiments...
9. Ving Rhames, who came to fame in 'Pulp Fiction', adopted a short form of his own name (Irving) so you might think he'd be very conscious of the impact names can have. He certainly seemed to think names rule the world when he called his daughter something Judy Garland would have been proud to have thought of... which was?

Answer: Reign Beau

"Somewhere over the Reign Beau..." no, really I shouldn't sing about it. Partly because it's a terrible joke and partly because I don't have the voice for it - every time I think about singing it my voice runs screaming out of the door.
10. Bono's daughters were named Jordan and Memphis Eve, and one of his sons was called John Abraham. So far so nearly normal. But before I rise to heaven in a whirlwind of amazement at the names celebrities call their children, what was the name Bono chose for his other son?

Answer: Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi Q

Bob? Where did that come from? As for the rest... my parents always told me I shouldn't believe everything I read in the newspapers but some things are too incredible to be untrue and Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi Q is one of them. And no, that's not a typo, I didn't leave off the rest of the Q word, Q is the word. Such a shame it's no good in Scrabble.
