Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At age 13, actor/musician Phil Collins was in a crowd shot of what movie starring a legendary foursome?

Answer: A Hard Day's Night

"A Hard Day's Night" is a 1964 musical comedy starring the legendary Beatles. It was a "mockumentary" of a day in the life of John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they rocketed to fame. At the time, Phil Collins was a child actor and was used as an extra in the film.

He later gained fame as the drummer, and eventual lead singer, for the group Genesis. I learned this tidbit by reading the memoir "Not Dead Yet" (2016) by Collins. I am a big fan with a huge crush!

7. According to the famous quote by Maurice Chevalier, what "isn't so bad when you consider the alternative"?

Answer: "old age"

In 1960, the "Los Angeles Times" reprinted a collection of quotations that appeared in a reference book titled "Celebrity Register" along with short biographies of the sources. Among the quotes they printed was this one by actor Maurice Chevalier: "Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternative." Now, as one might suspect, there are many instances of the sentiment expressed in this quote reworded in different ways that appear on record prior to Mr. Chevalier's popularization of it. Early versions were anonymous, but soon many versions were linked to various actors.

In December 1955 for instance, actor Louis Calhern was cited by the "Times-Picayune": "Growing old isn't so bad, when you consider the alternative". There are other cases, but Maurice Chevalier's remained the most well-known version of it.
