Question 1 of 10
1. The first face I saw is that of a slightly effeminate man with very long blond hair, light skin and piercing blue eyes. The eyebrows, however, are dark. There is something wrong with his ears, too, as if they were a bit deformed. Whose face did I see and where? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. This face belongs to an older man. The brown-red hair is clearly receding on the forehead and a beard and mustache, not too dense, adorn the lower face. A prominent nose and blue eyes tell the story of an eventful life. Whom did I look at? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Even I could identify the next face as belonging to a prominent actor from a science fiction television production, as the uniform worn told me that much. But the name of the dark-skinned, bald actor looking to be in his 40s with a well trimmed mustache and black eyes eludes me. Who is the subject of this set photo? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Short dark brown hair, dark eyes and prominent eyebrows meeting above the nose are the most prominent features of the face of a man in his twenties, looking very focused. I even remember the day I saw this face - it was the day the 2010 Winter Olympic Games opened and I was watching the coverage from Vancouver. But what was this young man's name and why was he in the media focus that day? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. This male face puzzles me. He is seen with three other men, all wearing somewhat sinister make-up, executed in strict black and white. His hair is black and seems to be somewhat unruly as much as it can be told against the dark background. His wide open mouth seems to scream in terror. Who is this person? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. This female face seems to be a snippet from a movie screen shot taken in the sunset. The young lady depicted is wearing a dark dress. Her profile shows medium brown, slightly curly, flowing hair, blue eyes and very clearly lined eyebrows in an overall very conservative, almost Victorian make-up. The tip of some other person's nose in the image tells me that, on the full shot, she is not alone. Which actress is depicted in this well-known, iconic image? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Driving by one of the huge billboards in Las Vegas in 2009, I spotted a larger-than-life female face which almost seemed ageless and artificial, but, upon closer inspection, probably belonged to a lady in her 60s. Long, wavy chestnut hair and very slim features surround piercing yet loving brown eyes. I clearly also remember having seen several less advantageous photos of this lady in the past, but I can't remember her name; so please help me! Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. The next lady I've seen would today be considered unremarkable in appearance. In fact, she never was known for extreme beauty, but still her face was instantly recognized around the world. Adorned with a headband, her shoulder-length dark blonde hair fell in a somewhat unruly manner around an oval face with a rather prominent nose. Her height of success was at an age around 20 and that is also when the image I am describing was shot. Who is this lady? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Beauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder, but there are some faces whose attractiveness is undeniable. One such face is that of one of the world's most famous fashion models. Black hair trimmed to neck length frames a coffee-brown face whose features clearly show both African and Asian ancestors. Mysterious brown eyes and a wide smile complete this unique face belonging to whom? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. This face is a bit blurry since it was taken directly from the television screen, but the long, straight blonde hair and big blue eyes are unmistakable and even the fact that the face's owner is missing her front teeth on the screen shot does not detract from the angelic expression. Which talent, whose performance has also gone viral on YouTube, had to settle for a 2nd place in a major 2007 competition but still went on to become every bit as famous as the winner? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first face I saw is that of a slightly effeminate man with very long blond hair, light skin and piercing blue eyes. The eyebrows, however, are dark. There is something wrong with his ears, too, as if they were a bit deformed. Whose face did I see and where?

Answer: Orlando Bloom on a "Lord of the Rings" press photo

Born in Canterbury, England, in 1977, Orlando Bloom was a relatively unknown television actor until Peter Jackson cast him as the Elven warrior-prince Legolas in the epic "Lord of the Rings" trilogy although, initially, Orlando had auditioned for the part of Faramir, later assigned to Australian actor David Wenham.

After the completion of the trilogy, Orlando Bloom landed two more, distinctly more masculine, parts in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series and as Prince Paris in "Troy".
2. This face belongs to an older man. The brown-red hair is clearly receding on the forehead and a beard and mustache, not too dense, adorn the lower face. A prominent nose and blue eyes tell the story of an eventful life. Whom did I look at?

Answer: Joe Cocker on the cover of "One Night of Sin"

An Englishman from Sheffield, Joe Cocker has become the prime example of a rough, gritty and smoky blues and rock voice. Constantly active in professional music ever since 1961 and landing his first recording in 1964, he has released over 20 albums since his 1969 "With a Little Help From my Friends" debut.

In spite of many successful single releases, he only had one number one hit each in the UK (1968's "With a Little Help From my Friends") and the US (1982's "Up Where We Belong", together with Jennifer Warnes).
3. Even I could identify the next face as belonging to a prominent actor from a science fiction television production, as the uniform worn told me that much. But the name of the dark-skinned, bald actor looking to be in his 40s with a well trimmed mustache and black eyes eludes me. Who is the subject of this set photo?

Answer: Avery Brooks ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine")

Avery Brooks is a native of Indiana and a veteran of the stage and the small screen. His greatest success, apart from his "Star Trek" appearance as Commander and later Captain Benjamin Sisko, was the part of Hawk in "Spenser: for Hire" and the less successful spinoff "A Man Called Hawk".

Besides his television work, Brooks taught theater at Rutgers University (New Jersey) for several decades and occasionally appears on stage as a baritone singer of considerable talent.

Answer: Nodar Kumaritashvili - he was a Georgian luger killed during a practice run

Unfortunately, the reason for this particular face to be remembered was a sad one. A combination of a very fast and difficult track, a steering error by the athlete and a lack of safety measures around the track combined to tragically cut short the life of a sympathetic athlete at an age of merely 21 years, before he could realize his dream of actually competing at the Olympic games.

His death overshadowed what was to be a grand celebration, but the organizers of the opening ceremony handled the situation well and adapted with dignity.

However, what was in my personal opinion the best and most touching moment of remembrance was unplanned and occurred when one of the four pillars of the Olympic Flame failed to rise, resulting in a symbol of the games proceeding, but nonetheless remaining incomplete.
5. This male face puzzles me. He is seen with three other men, all wearing somewhat sinister make-up, executed in strict black and white. His hair is black and seems to be somewhat unruly as much as it can be told against the dark background. His wide open mouth seems to scream in terror. Who is this person?

Answer: Gene Simmons, as depicted on the cover of the 1974 album "KISS"

Born in Haifa, Israel as Chaim Witz, Gene Simmons immigrated to the United States along with his mother in 1957, at age eight. Together with Paul Stanley, he founded the rock band KISS which they jointly led throughout their career. While Stanley was the lead singer on stage, Simmons, KISS's bass player, was the man behind the image and the marketing strategy that rendered the band one of the most iconic sights and sounds of the 1970s. One of the most recognizable features of the band was their make-up, consisting of stark black and white shapes, each of the four band members wearing their own pattern throughout most of their career.

Answer: Kate Winslet ("Titanic")

Arguably the most iconic motion picture image from the late 20th century, the full picture shows Kate Winslet together with Leonardo DiCaprio at the bow of the Titanic in James Cameron's eponymous movie, Leonardo holding Kate while she acts as an angelic, flying figure.

Not least because of Kate's superb performance in the demanding role of Rose DeWitt Bukater, the film became the greatest box office success of its time. Kate was also nominated for an Academy Award for this performance, but lost to Helen Hunt. Following several further nominations as best actress and best supporting actress, she finally won the Academy Award for her performance in "The Reader" (2008).

I clearly also remember having seen several less advantageous photos of this lady in the past, but I can't remember her name; so please help me!

Answer: Cherilyn Sarkisian (Cher)

Among all female entertainers, Cher does not so much stand out for any single talent but for the vast spectrum of her successful performances. While most successful as a singer, both solo and together with Sonny Bono as "Sonny and Cher", she also is an accomplished actress, film director and variety stage entertainer as well as a political and social activist.

Her looks, which she openly admits as having been enhanced by plastic surgery in a pursuit of an eternally youthful appearance, although nowhere close to the extent rumored, have polarized opinions across the decades.

Answer: Tennis champion Steffi Graf, at Wimbledon 1988

Stefanie (Steffi) Graf has been one of the greatest tennis professionals of all times, having won a total of 22 singles Grand Slam tournament titles and the so far only so-called "Golden Slam" - winning not only the four Grand Slam tournaments but also the Olympic tennis tournament in the same calendar year (1988).

In addition to this true Grand Slam, Mrs. Graf managed to win the four major tennis tournaments in a row again five years later, but not in the same calendar year. After retiring from professional tennis in 1999, she married Andre Agassi, himself an outstanding tennis player, in 2001.

They have two children and dedicate a large portion of their life to charitable work, including a highly successful charter college preparation school for at-risk kids in Las Vegas.

Mysterious brown eyes and a wide smile complete this unique face belonging to whom?

Answer: Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell has been born in London to parents of Jamaican descent, with her mother being African Jamaican and her father Chinese Jamaican. After her father left them early, Naomi followed the footsteps of her mother in attending ballet and dance school.

At age 15, she was discovered as a catwalk model and then was quickly chosen for several high profile fashion ad campaigns, the most prominent one of which was for Lee Jeans. A breakthrough moment occurred in 1988, when she became the first black cover girl of Vogue Paris. Over the years, Campbell has had several minor run-ins with the law due to aggressive behavior and failure to control her anger.

Which talent, whose performance has also gone viral on YouTube, had to settle for a 2nd place in a major 2007 competition but still went on to become every bit as famous as the winner?

Answer: Singer Connie Talbot in "Britain's Got Talent"

Connie Talbot is a child singer from the West Midlands in England. Born in 2000, she became a viewer favorite of the 2007 initial run of "Britain's Got Talent", ultimately advancing to the final show where she lost the popular vote to amateur opera tenor Paul Potts.

Her performance of "Over the Rainbow" as well as several other songs were recorded for a CD later in the year and reached gold status (100,000 sold units) in the United Kingdom. Connie has since then recorded two further albums, both Christmas-themed, but neither of them placed in the UK charts.
