When visiting the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam Bieber wrote in a guest book, "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber." using a term that his followers call themselves.

The museum itself was dedicated to famous diarist Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl who hid from German forces that were occupying Holland during World War 2 and who subsequently died at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
