Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the comics, which name would be most associated with the Riddler?

Answer: Nigma

Edward Nigma (or Nygma) goes by the name of the Riddler. The character was created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang, but did not become an important character in the Batman universe until Frank Gorshin's portrayal on the first season of the "Batman" live-action series (1966). The Riddler is known for providing riddle-like clues to his upcoming crimes.

Kyle is Selena Kyle (Catwoman). Bullock is Police Detective Harvey Bullock. Gordon is Police Commissioner James Gordon.
2. Who portrayed Batman in the second season of live action series "Titans"?

Answer: Iain Glen

"Titans" was based on the DC superhero group the Tern Titans with episodes beginning in 2018. Batman/Bruce Wayne appeared as a recurring character in the second season with a portrayal by Iain Glen. (Stunt doubles portrayed Batman in his first season appearances.) Iain Glen has also portrayed Jorah Mormont on "Game of Thrones".

The others were actors who appeared on "Game of Thrones". Alfie Allen was Theon Greyjoy. Jack Gleeson was Joffrey Baratheon. Liam Cunningham was Davos Seaworth.
3. Who starred as Batman in the 1997 film "Batman & Robin"?

Answer: George Clooney

George Clooney may be best known for his starring role on the most popular television series "ER". Clooney's portrayal of Batman in "Batman & Robin" was generally well-received with references to "campy" features like the infamous Bat-credit card. Clooney himself later expressed criticism of the film.

Michael Keaton starred in "Batman" (1989) and "Batman Returns" (1992). Val Kilmer was in "Batman Forever" (1995). Christian Bale starred in a trilogy that started with "Batman Begins" (2005).
4. Which Batman adversary is sometimes employed by Arkham Asylum and was portrayed in "Gotham" by B. D. Wong?

Answer: Hugo Strange

Scientist Hugo Strange, with expert knowledge of psychiatry, biology, and chemistry, first appeared in "Detective Comics" in 1940 after his creation by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. In the television series "Gotham", he is the Chief of Psychiatry at Arkham Asylum. B. D. Wong, who portrays Strange, is also known for his recurring role on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit".

Art Schivel was the name of Mister Freeze in the 1966 "Batman" series. Kirk Langstrom is the Man-Bat. Jonathan Crane is the Scarecrow.
5. Which Batman villain was formerly Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent?

Answer: Two-Face

Harvey Dent was a friend of Bruce Wayne's, along with being District Attorney, before acid thrown by a criminal disfigured his face. Two-Face's gimmick seems to include duality such as the coin he flips to sometimes make decisions. In some portrayals, Batman seems more sympathetic to Two-Face than some of his other foes, referring to him as "Harvey".

Ras al'Ghul, Scarecrow, and Owlman are also foes of Batman.
6. Who provided the narration for the 1966-1968 television series "Batman"?

Answer: William Dozier

William Dozier was the executive producer and creator of "Batman" along with providing narration. In the first two seasons when most episodes were two-parters, he would summarize the action of the first episode in the start of the second. He could be counted on asking the viewers to tune in again "same Bat time, same Bat channel" at the end of an episode.

The other choices were actors on the series. Alan Napier was Alfred the Butler. Neil Hamilton was Commissioner Gordon. Stafford Repp was Chief O'Hara.
7. What was the last name of the artist who created Batman adversary the Cluemaster along with Gardiner Fox?

Answer: Infantino

Carmine Infantino and Gardiner Fox created the Cluemaster in 1966. Like the Riddler, Cluemaster would provide clues about his crimes to Batman. Unlike the Riddler, though, his clues were not necessarily riddles. Cluemaster would sometimes work on his own and other times as part of the Injustice League.

Bill Finger and Dennis O'Neil were writers associated with Baman. Paul Dini is an animator who worked with "Batman: The Animated Series".
8. In the 1943 movie serial "Batman", the title hero fought against saboteur Dr. Daka. What was the last name of the actor who portrayed Daka?

Answer: Naish

J. Carroll Naish portrayed Japanese saboteur Dr. Daka (the serial was made during World War Two). Though Naish was Caucasian, he portrayed characters of many races and ethnicities during his career. Dana's ethnicity was frequently (and negatively) throughout the serial with even Batman referring to it upon meeting Daka.

Walter Oland and Sidney Toler were two Caucasian actors who portrayed Detective Charlie Chan. Actor Peter Sellers portrayed several characters of varying ethnicities during his career.
9. What was the secret identity of the original DC villain Firefly, who first appeared in 1952?

Answer: Garfield Lynns

Garfield Lynn's, the original Firefly, was conceived as a criminal who used fire as a cover for his crimes. In later stories he was described as a sociopath and pyromaniac. The character was created by France Herron and Dick Sprang. At times, he has been part of the Secret Society of Super Villains.

Julian Day is Calendar Man. Basil Karlo is Clayface. Arthur Brown is Cluemaster.
10. The final step. If you have answered the first nine questions correctly, take the first letter of each answer and use it to spell a nine letter word. The word is the name that Robin, the Boy Wonder, used as a crime fighting adult.

Answer: Nightwing

Nightwing was a name adopted by Dick Grayson, the first Robin, as an older member of the Teen Titans. Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, the character first appeared in 1984. On occasion, other characters have occasionally assumed the role of Nightwing.
