Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Our duo live in West Wallaby Street In the cosiest of homes, With a bit of garden as a treat And two crackin' little gnomes! What is the number of Wallace and Gromit's house?

Answer: 62

In the film "The Wrong Trousers", Gromit has a birthday and he eagerly awaits the arrival of the postman. When the post finally arrives we see that one of the letters has a clearly visible address. It is 62, West Wallaby Street, Wigan, WG7 7FU.
Personally I think it's a mistake to house Wallace in Wigan, thus making him a Lancastrian. He is voiced by Peter Sallis who, in his alter ego of Cleggy in the television sitcom "Last of the Summer Wine", is Yorkshire personified.
The gnomes in the garden can clearly be seen in the computer game "Muzzled". One carries a STOP and GO sign and changes the lay out of the garden. The other works the front gate. They certainly ring true. All over the Northeast of England similar streets sport tiny garden plots adorned with gnomes, wishing wells, windmills and other delights.
2. Wallace and Gromit are late night snackers, Invariably on cheese and crackers. One night our doggie and his master Run out of cheese - major disaster! What kind of cheese do Wallace and Gromit love best?

Answer: Wensleydale

The Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, Yorkshire is the only place where Wensleydale cheese can legally be made. In 1992 the company was doing very badly and as a result the factory had to close. A local businessman helped them to reopen in 1993. They were granted a license to market a special Wallace and Gromit brand of Wensleydale.

Their portraits are on the wrapping. They are now a successful company.
3. Since for money he's hard pressed, Wallace takes a paying guest. When the evil penguin comes to stay, Sadly Gromit moves away. What is the name of this criminal penguin, who appears in "The Wrong Trousers?"

Answer: Feathers McGraw

Feathers McGraw is a thief and a notorious criminal mastermind, who puts a rubber glove on his head and as a chicken, plans to steal a valuable diamond from a museum. He is of course foiled by Gromit and the Technotrousers.
In "A Close Shave", there is a good example of creator Nick Park's amusing throw away jokes. Wallace is seen reading a book. On the spine is the legend
"A Penguin Crime Classic" and also a picture of Feathers McGraw!
Penguin of course is a book publisher.
4. No cheese, no cheese! None to be had ! But Wallace is a clever lad. So he plans to build a rocket- Gathers wrenches, spanner, sprocket - Takes off, while the mice all gaze, For the moon! It seems like days! While waiting till the rocket lands Gromit builds with steady hands A ___ Well what does he build?

Answer: A house of cards

American Bryan Berg used over a thousand decks of cards to build a free standing house of cards. One Brendan Jamison has made a model of the Great Wall of China with sugar cubes!
Pensioner Bryan Wherry of Exeter has built a model of the Liver Building in Liverpool using an amazing 52,000 matches.
5. "A Close Shave" is quite a good tale, Though Wallace is lovesick and pale. While keeping her shop windows clean, He falls for the fair Wendolene! What kind of shop does Wendolene keep?

Answer: A wool shop

Wendolene keeps a wool shop. Her father was an inventor which attracts her to Wallace. Their romance flounders because she is allergic to cheese.
6. Gromit for stealing sheep is framed. He's a master criminal it's claimed! But Wendolene's robot dog's the sinner- He cans the sheep to make dogs'dinner What is the name of this evil dog?

Answer: Preston

Wendolene's father built Preston and he was originally good but something went wrong with his mechanism. His good nature is restored in the end.
Preston is the name of a town in Lancashire.
7. Gromit has a lovely room. It's walls are very pretty Till the penguin brings him gloom And strips them-such a pity! What is the decorative pattern on Gromit's wallpaper?

Answer: bones

Gromit's room is requisitioned by Feathers McGraw who replaces the wallpaper with one patterned with fish.
("The Wrong Trousers")
8. When Gromit settles down at night He's sitting still-or is he? He works away with all his might And keeps himself quite busy. How does Gromit keep himself busy most often in the evenings? (He has us all in stitches!)

Answer: He knits

He does many things but most often we find him knitting! He is also a reader. The book that amuses me is "Electronics for dogs".
9. Feathers McGraw, by Gromit sought, Was notorious in his times But when finally he was caught, How did he pay for all his crimes?

Answer: He was sent to the zoo

In a later adventure in a CD-ROM game, Feathers escapes from his pen and takes over the whole zoo, turning it into a diamond mine.
10. Wallace has various jobs of work By which to earn a penny. From the tasks he will not shirk Though they be hard and many. Which of these occupations did Wallace never engage in?

Answer: fishmonger

It is in the course of his three occupations that Wallace has three ill fated excursions into romance.
When cleaning windows he meets Windolene who is allergic to cheese. When controlling pests he falls in love with Lady Tottington and as a baker he loves
Piella Bakewell, who turns out to be a murderess!
