"The Girl Is Mine" was the first single released from Jackson's record breaking album "Thriller". The song itself did not receive much acclaim and was also embroiled in two separate plagiarism related lawsuits. McCartney and Jackson also recorded two other songs "Say Say Say" and "The Man", both of which formed part of the former's solo album "Pipes of Peace".

"The Dark Knight" was the second film in the Batman trilogy written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Christian Bale plays Batman with Maggie Gyllenhaal playing Rachel Dawes and Aaron Eckhart taking the role of Harvey Dent. Dent is an upright District Attorney of Gotham City which is reeling under the attacks of the Joker (Heath Ledger). Though Rachel is killed by the Joker, she makes it known that she has chosen Dent over Batman earlier in the film.

While this wasn't revealed to Batman in the film, he comes to know of it in the final installment of the trilogy.

"The Phantom of the Opera" is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber adapted from the original French novel by Gaston Leroux. Set in the Paris Opera House, the play begins with an unknown figure teaching music to Christine, one of the many chorus girls. Keen to further his protégé's career, the Phantom drives away the lead soprano of the opera. Christine believes she is being coached by the "Angel of Music", the personification of musical inspiration whose tales she had been told of by her father.

The patron of the opera turns out to be a childhood friend of Christine's, Raoul who forms the third leg of this triangle.

Originally written as a novel by Margaret Mitchell, "Gone with the Wind" was made into a film by David O. Selznick starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in the roles of Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara respectively. Scarlett had been secretly in love with Ashley Wilkes since the beginning and not being used to her affections being spurned, was shocked to hear that he was to be engaged to his cousin Melanie. Even after she confesses her feelings to Ashley, he states his intention to carry on with his marriage to Melanie stating that they are more compatible. Even after Scarlett's marriage to Rhett, she continues to find ways to get close to Ashley, realizing only at the end that her feelings for Ashley were superficial and Rhett was the one she truly loved.

Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) and Michael O'Neal (Dermot Mulroney) are best friends and it is only when the latter announces his plans to marry Kimmy Wallace (Cameron Diaz) that Julianne realises her feelings for him go beyond just friendship.
