Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How old should a puppy be before he can be away from his mother for good?

Answer: 8 Weeks

Puppies should be approximately 8 weeks old before they can be away from their mothers for good. Before this, is not acceptable as the puppy still needs its mother's milk and love.
2. Where would be best to socialize your new puppy?

Answer: All of these

All of these are great to socialize your puppy because he will get used to many different types of people with different environments combined. Although if your puppy begins to get overly stressed and panics, take him to a quiet place to calm him down as he may be too overwhelmed. Try not to expect too much at such a young age. Patience is virtue.
3. What should never be fed to your dog?

Answer: Chocolate

Chocolate, as some may know, is one of the most fatal foods to dogs, but some owners still feed it to their dogs. With the right dosage, dogs can be dead in a couple of hours. It all happens so fast. Dark chocolate seems to be more fatal than milk and white but all can be fiercely deadly.
4. What should be one of the questions to ask yourself and your family when planning on getting a puppy?

Answer: Will I be able to give him love, time and supply him with everything he needs for his life?

There are many questions to ask yourself but don't be too selfish. Think of the puppy's welfare- how will his puppy development affect how he thinks as an adult?
5. Would the fun, loving, active flat-coated retriever be best in apartment living?

Answer: No; They need space, big gardens and many walks for their energy

Flat-coated retrievers are very active gundogs and need space, long walks; therefore countryside living is best for them.

Answer: Running alongside carriages

Dalmatians ran along side carriages when originated in Dalmatia, Croatia, therefore today they have lots of energy and are substantially active.
7. What breed of dog has trouble swimming?

Answer: Basset Hounds

Basset hounds are the correct answer and it is true, they do have trouble swimming. Some say it is to do with their short legs and long ears. Newfoundlands were blessed with the ability to swim very well and have the added touch of webbed paws making them great for rescuing people which is what some are used for in Cornwall, United Kingdom, where it is close to the coast. Labradors also love swimming and poodles do have the ability to swim.
8. Who invented the world's biggest dog show, Crufts, in 1891?

Answer: Charles Cruft

Answer: Staffordshire, The Midlands, UK

Staffordshire bull terriers, when brought up correctly, are a lovely, bubbly, friendly breed of dog who receive so much bad press but, with the right love, care and attention, can make the best of family pets.
10. Here's a tricky last question: What is unique about the Chow Chow and Shar Pei?

Answer: Their blue/black tongues
