Answer: gold

Iron is also what we call a periodic element like gold but it is less valuable. Table salt is a compound made from sodium and chlorine. Baked beans has nothing to do with this!

Answer: lead

Metals are substances which cover most of the periodic table and lead is a metal. A very, very long time ago they used to make pipes out of bricks but that's not what I am talking about.

Answer: carbon

Carbon in the form of graphite is what is used in pencils. Calcium and iron don't wear off so easily and so are not good for writing with. Chocolate! Hmmmmmm why would anybody waste that on homework?!

Bones made of uranium? No, no, no, that would kill us! Lead; that is definitely NOT good for our bodies. Calcium is what I was looking for. Along with magnesium and zinc, it is very important for healthy bones.

All these elements are essential for our life but hydrogen is the most abundant. Stars burn hydrogen for fuel.

Water is essential to our lives. Crisps are definitely NOT a chemical. Dioxygen (O2) is actually essential to us. People just call it oxygen but it's actually dioxygen. Caffeine is found in chocolate, cola and coffee. It can cause sleeping problems and is harmful to us if too much is consumed.
10. What is the name of the alcohol found in beer that is harmful to us if too much is consumed?

Answer: ethanol

Methanol is an alcohol and is also poisonous, but it is not found in beer. Whiskey is an alcoholic drink. Caffeine is not an alcohol but it can still be harmful. Ethanol is the answer. It is very dangerous to consume too much of it.
