Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In book 5, all the students are fed up with their Defense against the Dark Arts teacher, Prof. Umbridge. Hermione suggests they take matters into their own hands and let Harry teach them. During their first meeting, Cho Chang made a suggestion on what they should be called, what was her suggestion?

Answer: Defense Association (DA for short)

Everybody thought it was a good idea, but Cho Chang's suggestion was not taken. Ginny Weasley suggested they called it Dumbledore's Army instead, since it was the Ministry's worst fear.
2. In book 4, Harry and Cedric are transported to the graveyard where Voldemort's father is buried after they both touch the Triwizard Cup (which was a portkey). In this graveyard, Wormtail and Voldemort attempt to revive Voldemort to full power using a potion. This potion needed three key ingredients to work. What did Wormtail sacrifice to make this potion work?

Answer: some of his flesh

The incantation was to be said as so: "Bone of the father, unknowingly given, you will revive your son. Flesh of the servant, willingly given, you will revive your master. Blood of the enemy, forcibly taken, you will revive your foe."
3. In book 6, Dumbledore requests Harry's help to convince an old friend, Horace Slughorn, to return to Hogwarts to teach. Upon arriving where Horace was hidden, they found that the house was a mess, as though there had been a fight. On the wall was blood, what kind of blood was it?

Answer: dragon

Horace had been hiding from Voldemort's Death Eaters for a year before Dumbledore found him. He had tried to make it seem he had been taken during a fight, and messed up the house in which he was currently vacating. However, he forgot one important thing that would have done the job: he forgot that Death Eaters always sent up the Dark Mark after attacking a place.
4. In book 2, the dreaded Chamber Of Secrets had been opened. We learn Ginny Weasley had been bewitched into opening it by an enchanted diary (which concealed part of Voldemort's soul). Whilst in the Chamber, Harry duels with a basilisk, and then destroys the memory of the 16 year old Tom Riddle with a basilisk fang, which pierced what part of Harry's body?

Answer: arm

The diary, we are later told, was a Horcrux. True, Voldemort did intend for the diary to fall into the hands of an unsuspecting victim, but after his downfall, the keeper of the Horcrux, Lucius Malfoy, didn't wait for Voldemort's say so, and gave away the Horcrux for gain, rather than revenge, which is what Voldemort, had wanted.
5. In book 1, Harry is taken to Gringotts, the wizard bank, to withdraw money to buy his school gear. After withdrawing money, he, Hagrid and Griphook (the goblin) go to vault 713, to take out a package for Dumbledore. To unlock the door, Griphook slides his finger down the middle, and tells Harry if anyone else tried it, they'd be sucked through the keyhole. How many times do Goblins check to make sure no one is in that vault?

Answer: every 10 years

The Philosopher's Stone lay behind this door. If you think about it, if a thief tried to steal the stone, they wouldn't die, since the stone had the elixir of life in it.
6. In book 6, Harry and Dumbledore set off to find and destroy one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. Dumbledore, being the wise man he is, realizes that the Horcrux is located in the middle of a black lake, and to get to it, they must use the boat, which Voldemort had left. What does Harry believe is wrong with the boat?

Answer: it can fit only one person

When Harry points this out to Dumbledore, Dumbledore says that the boat weighed the amount of magic, not the weight of the wizard. Since Harry was an under-aged wizard, he didn't count, so it would appear to the boat that only Dumbledore was in it.
7. In book 3, one of Harry's father's old school friends, Remus Lupin, takes the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. However, no one seems to realize that he was ill quite often. Prof. Snape, who desperately wanted that post, was to teach them. Because of a homework task that Snape had set them, what did Hermione end up discovering?

Answer: Lupin was a werewolf

Prof. Lupin's nickname at school was Moony, because he obviously changed into a werewolf at the full moon. Snape had "accidentally" let it slip that Lupin was werewolf at breakfast one morning, forcing Lupin to retire.
8. In book 5, Gryffindor had beaten Slytherin at Quidditch, and Malfoy had been ill-mannered about it. He insulted Ron's parents and Harry's mother. This resulted in George and Harry hitting Malfoy, and being thrown off the team. Who else was thrown off the team?

Answer: Fred

This seemed very unfair, Fred had not hit Malfoy, though, given it was his parents Malfoy had been insulting, had it not have been for people holding him back, he would have attacked Malfoy also.
9. In book 1, Harry and his fellow schoolmates are waiting to be sorted into each of the houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Since Harry's last name begins with 'P', he has some time to observe the other first years. He notices some people take longer to be sorted than others. Whom did he notice needed almost a whole minute to be sorted?

Answer: Seamus Finnigan

In the movie, we don't get to see Seamus be sorted at all. Hermione was placed in Gryffindor after a small while. As soon as the sorting hat touches Malfoy's head he is placed in Slytherin.
10. In book 2, Harry finds Tom Riddle's diary, after some one had tried to dispose of it. After careful examination, he discovered that the diary wrote back to what ever the writer wrote in it. The diary explains that Tom Riddle had been around when the Chamber of Secrets had been opened first. Who had been wrongfully accused and expelled for it?

Answer: Hagrid

This is quite clever. We are not told if Riddle had foreseen someone witnessing the scene in 50 years, but it made it seem like Riddle knew it was Hagrid, he played quite a performance, very convincingly.
