Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You were a Hogwarts student. You walked up to another student and said: "You filthy Mudblood! Get away from me!" Whose house were you probably in?

Answer: Slytherin

Draco Malfoy called Hermione Granger a filthy Mudblood when he got the chance, and he was obviously in Slytherin! Snape also called Lily Evans, soon to be Lily Potter, a Mudblood; he was in Slytherin too. Harry has never called anyone a Mudblood, neither has Hermione, Ron, Cedric, Luna, or other fellow students not belonging to Slytherin.

A Mudblood is Muggle-born, a witch or wizard with non-magical parents.
2. You were sitting by the Fat Friar at your fourth year start-of-term feast. Which house did you belong to if you were sitting at your own house's table?

Answer: Hufflepuff

Ravenclaw is for the smart, clever and intelligent, Gryffindor is for the brave and the bold, Slytherin for sly, ambitious, cunning and pure-blood. Hufflepuff is for the people who don't fit perfectly into any of those houses. The Fat Friar was a member of Hufflepuff when he attended Hogwarts, and returned after his death to be the Hufflepuff house ghost.

He was a friendly ghost, always pleased to greet new students.
3. Your house ghost was the only ghost that could scare Peeves the Poltergeist. Which ghost is that, and which house were you in?

Answer: The Bloody Baron and Slytherin

In the book "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", Harry was going to the owlery to send a note to "Snuffles" (Sirius Black). Nearly Headless Nick tells him not to go a certain way because Peeves the Poltergeist is planning a trick on the next person to walk by. He then says he is out to find the Bloody Baron to come scare Peeves away.
4. Hey! You were a smart and intelligent Ravenclaw. Who was your house ghost?

Answer: The Grey Lady

In "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", both the book and the movie, Harry actually went to Helena Ravenclaw (The Grey Lady) for help. He needed help finding Rowena Ravenclaw's lost diadem, Lord Voldemort's fifth Horcrux. He found it in the Room of Requirement.
5. Harry Potter's old crush, Cho Chang, was in what house?

Answer: Ravenclaw

Yes, Harry loved Cho Chang and was upset when she started going out with Cedric Diggory. When Cedric died, Harry started going out with Cho Chang but eventually broke up because of all their little "rows". He then started dating Ginny Weasley, Ron's sister, in "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince", and they got married in the epilogue of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"!
6. Harry Potter had a crush on Cho Chang. She was dating Cedric Diggory in " Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". From which house was Cedric Diggory?

Answer: Hufflepuff

Cedric Diggory took Cho Chang to the Yule Ball in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". He and Cho continued dating after that, until Cedric died in The Triwizard Tournament while participating in the third task. Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory were competing in the Triwizard Tournament for Hogwarts.
7. What was the weapon, or weapon in his possesion, of Godric Gryffindor, the founder of Gryffindor House?

Answer: a sword

Yes, Godric Gryffindor's weapon was his sword, which Harry Potter pulled out of the Sorting Hat in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". It was made by goblins, and was his house item. It was one of the only things that could destroy horcruxes. Helga Hufflepuff had a magic cup, which was Voldemort's third horcrux, Salazar Slytherin had a locket that served as Voldemort's fourth horcrux, and Rowena Ravenclaw had a diadem, Voldemort's fifth horcrux. Nagini was the sixth horcrux and Harry Potter himself was the seventh horcrux. Marvolo Gaunt's ring was the first horcrux and Tom Riddle's diary was the second horcrux. Neville Longbottom also pulled the sword out of the Sorting Hat in the movie "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2".
8. Who was the founder of Hufflepuff house?

Answer: Helga Hufflepuff

Helga Hufflepuff, the founder of Hufflepuff, said, "I will take the rest," and established a house for those that didn't quite fit in the other three. Godric Gryffindor was founder to Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin was founder to Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw was founder to Ravenclaw.
9. What were the names of the four house ghosts?

Answer: Nearly Headless Nick, The Bloody Baron, The Grey Lady, The Fat Friar

Nearly Headless Nick (prefers Sir Nicholas) was the Gryffindor house ghost. Slytherin's was The Bloody Baron. The Grey Lady belonged to Ravenclaw, and The Fat Friar to Hufflepuff. Peeves the Poltergeist was a ghost, but not a house ghost.
10. Which of the four founders of Hogwarts spoke Parseltongue?

Answer: Salazar Slytherin

Salazar Slytherin spoke Parseltongue, the language of snakes. Although he was the only founder of the four Hogwarts houses that spoke Parseltongue, kids in Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw have the possibility of speaking it too, like Harry Potter himself. Harry finds out that he speaks Parseltongue in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Ron uses Parseltongue in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".
