Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. God told Noah to build an ark so his family and the animals would be safe during the flood. If you add the number of rabbits on the ark to the number of days and nights it rained, what is your total?

Answer: 42

Noah took two of each kind of animal and the rains lasted forty days and nights. 2+40=42
Noah and his family stayed inside the ark and took care of the animals. When the flood ended, they were all safe because Noah had trusted and obeyed God.

(Genesis 6.19 and Genesis 7.12)

2. If you add the number of Daniel's friends who were thrown into a fiery furnace, the number of Jesus' original disciples, and then add the number of brothers that Jacob had, what number would you have added up to?

Answer: 16

Daniel had 3 friends who were cast into a fiery furnace by a king, because they would not worship him over God. (They came out unharmed, because God protected them.) Jesus originally had 12 disciples and Jacob only had one brother, his twin, whose name was Esau. When you add 3+12+1, you arrive at the number 16.

3. What is the number of days that God took to create the earth and us (think creation story), minus the number of times Peter denied knowing Jesus (think before Jesus' death)?

Answer: 3

You may be thinking God took seven days to create the earth but he actually took six. He rested on the seventh day. During the six days God created the heavens, Earth, Sun, the sky, water, plants, animals, birds, and us of course! (And we think school deadlines are bad). This story is found in Genesis 1:1 to Genesis 2:3.
Peter denied knowing Jesus three times before his death (Jesus' not Peter's). This story can be found in Luke 22:54-62. 6-3=3.

4. What number do you get if you add the number of brothers David had (1 Samuel 16:10-11) and the number of stones David collected when he went to face Goliath(1 Samuel 17:40)?

Answer: 12

David had seven brothers who were all older than him. When he went to take food to his brothers at the battle with the Philistines, and told the king that he could defeat the Philistine giant Goliath, he collected five stones to use in his slingshot. 7 + 5 = 12. David actually only needed one stone to knock Goliath down.

5. If you consider the number of people who were on the ark during the great flood, and then subtract one of them, then multiply that answer by 2, what would the product be?

Answer: 14

Noah, his wife, (Mrs. Noah, as we don't know her name), and Noah's three sons Ham, Shem and Japheth along with their wives, (again, no names are provided for the wives) comprised 8 people aboard the ark. If we subtract one of them giving us the number 7 and then multiply that by 2, we would arrive at the number 14.

6. Take the number of gifts the baby Jesus received from the wise men and subtract the number of people God created to live in the garden of Eden. What is your total?

Answer: 1

The wise men brought three gifts (gold, frankincense and myrrh) to honor the baby Jesus. God created two people (Adam and Eve) to live in the garden of Eden. 3-2=1

Frankincense and myrrh are oils that have a wonderful smell. In Bible times, they were very expensive and were used for special occasions. The wise men showed their love of the baby Jesus with these wonderful presents!

7. There are many books in the Bible. However if you write the number of letters in each of the words "Old" and "Testament" side by side, it will give you the same number of books in the Old Testament part of the Bible. How many books are there from Genesis to Malachi?

Answer: 39

The phrase "Old" has three letters, and "Testament" has nine. If you write both numbers side by side "3 9", you will get 39. The Old Testament has 39 books in the Bible. There are five books of Moses, twelve books of history, five books of poetry, and seventeen books of prophecy.

8. Add the following together, then tell me the sum that you arrive at: A) children of Jacob B) siblings (that is, brother(s) and sister(s)) of Moses C) relatives of Jesus who preached before him, advising folks that He was coming D) the age of Jesus when he first began teaching in the temple

Answer: 28

Jacob had 13 children, twelve of whom were boys, and one was a girl.
Moses had 2 siblings. A brother named Aaron and a sister, Miriam.
Jesus had 1 cousin (technically his mother's cousin's son, John the Baptist, who preached that Jesus was soon to begin his ministry.
Jesus was 12 years old when he first began teaching in the temple.

When you add 13 plus 2 plus 1 and 12, the end result is 28.

9. If you take the number of fish caught by the apostles after Jesus' resurrection, then add the number of Churches in the book of Revelation, and finally divide the total by the number of people in the Ark, what number will you be left with? (KJV)

Answer: 20

In John 21:11 the Bible says the apostles had 153 fishes in their net.
In the book of Revelation, Jesus asks the apostle John to write to the 7 churches in Chapters 1-3.
Genesis Chapter 7 records that Noah and his three sons all entered the ark with their wives, which gives us a total of 8 people.

Now the math: 153+7=160 160/8=20
