Question 1 of 10
1. Our adventure will take us through valleys and mountains, jungles and swamps, and places you can't imagine or at least pronounce. So with all due respect to Monty Python, let the adventure begin. You approach the darken damp dank dirty castle. You start to walk across the drawbridge, but your path is blocked by an ugly ogre, (no relation) who is waiting to club you and maim you, and also sell you insurance. He commands you to stop. You cannot cross the drawbridge unless you answer this question. Of the following choices, what is your favorite color? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Well we got past the ogre, but now we enter the castle armed with only our reflexes, our wit, and well I don't know about you, but I bought insurance. We go through the castle door and a hallway and we enter a large open room, with three doors. One door leads to instant death. Another door leads to torture and mayhem. The third door is a shortcut through the kitchen. That's the one we want. However, the three doors are being guarded by a three-headed dog, named . . .(just put the names of your three favorite editors in the blank) and the only way we can get by is to answer the following math and games question correctly: In the game of Scrabble, what is the value of the letter j? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. We proceed through the kitchen and go through the meat freezer and suddenly find ourselves in a jungle. We push our way through the jungle and come to a river. We must cross the river but it is filled with man eating crocodiles and lots of different types of goldfish. However, Charon appears with a raft and says he will ferry us across if we can answer this simple sports question; How many home runs did Hank Aaron hit in his career? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Well we got through the jungle and over the river and we passed through Grandmother's house. Now we come to a bottomless pit. And it's deep. I mean it's really deep. It is so deep that it is bottomless. But there is a small pathway around it. But it is being guarded by an evil troll and he won't let us pass unless we can answer the following question; In the episode of the Simpsons entitled "Mother Simpson" Homer goes to his mother's grave and discovers that someone else is buried there. Which of the following poets is buried in Homer's mother's grave? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Well we are almost half way through our perilous journey and this looks like a good place to spend the night. Unfortunately, the ground is full of sharp rocks. But we were smart. We brought hammocks. But it takes two people to hang our hammock. Fortunately, the seductive siren Mary Ann Monroe is nearby (and for you woman folk that male model feller that does them butter commercials) and she will help you hang your hammock if you can answer the following easy question. However, if you miss it, you have to spend the night sleeping all by yourself on the sharp rocks. What was the first name of King George VI? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. After a good night's sleep (for some of us) we proceed on foot through the jungle. After an hour we suddenly wise up and start to use both feet, thus we are able to make better time. We come to a mountain and start climbing. We come through a pass. Off in the distance we see a damsel. She is waving to us, so we approach her. Turns out she wasn't waving to us, she was trying to warn us about the fire breathing dragon. And this is not just your ordinary fire breathing dragon. He also juggles. And does card tricks. Our goose is cooked unless we can answer the following question; Who is entombed in Grant's tomb? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. We have defeated the dragon and climbed the mountain. But now we come to a gorge. And the gorge is beautiful. The only way across is rope bridge. But it is guarded by the old man who will not let us cross unless we can answer one question. And this question will not be about swallows. If we get the question right, we can proceed across, but if we miss it, we are flung into the gorge of death. The question is; How many total episodes were there of the classic television series "Gilligan's Island?" Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Thus we proceed across the gorge, still determined to fulfil our quest, but minus some of our comrades. We proceed down the mountain and enter a swamp. There is quick drying sand everywhere and we are in mortal danger. We are floundering around and sinking and the situation looks hopeless until an Amway salesman shows up. If we answer his question correctly and buy twenty dollars worth of eye shadow, he will show us the way out. He wants to know which of the following Sesame Street characters had a hit song in 1970? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. The quicksand was tough and some of our comrades seem to be missing. But we press on. We get through the swamp and go up a narrow mountain. It is very steep and narrow and extremely dangerous. There is only one way through it, but the path is blocked by a cyclops. And he is not in a particularly good mood. In fact, he is in a downright ugly mood. The only way to pass him is to answer the following question; What is the capital of Texas? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Lucky for us we knew that one. Of course some of our companions were just guessing and we had to leave them behind with that cross cyclops. But the rest of us have almost completed our journey. We must cross a bridge and we are safely back in our own valley. But the bridge is being guarded by another ogre. And he wants some information only he isn't willing to pay for it. He wants to know which of the following is NOT true of the barn swallow? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: blue

Oh yes, the first question is easy, because the ogre wants you to enter the castle. But that does not mean that he wants you to leave. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha . . .

Answer: 2 to the third power

Did everybody make it to the right door? Let me count real quick. I see Mickey, Moody, Verbonica, BaronTR, Shadowhippie, hey where's Silent-b? Oh wait, he picked the right door, he just stopped to get some more grated cheese. The letter j is worth EIGHT points in the game of scrabble which is also equal to two cubed (2x2x2). 4x=16 is 4, and pi is approx. 3.14. I hope everybody got that question right and was able to proceed. For those who chose wrong . . .ah torture, mayhem . . .

Answer: 755

Good thing we know something about sports. Those goldfish look pretty hungry. Yes, Hammerin' Hank hit 755 home runs in his career for the Braves and Brewers. (Mostly the Braves)

Answer: Walt Whitman

For those of you who fell in the bottomless pit have a nice trip. Try not to splatter. Upon discovering that his mother's grave is actually Walt Whitman, Homer goes into a tirade shouting, "damn you Walt Whitman. I hate you Walt freakin Whitman! Leave of grass my ass!" (I find it interesting that Homer actually knew that Walt Whitman wrote "Leaves of Grass.") However, everything turns out for the better because Homer soon learns that his mother is still alive. Things may have turned out well for Homer, but I am afraid you are in a different boat. And it's not the Titanic.

Answer: Albert

I hope the ground wasn't too hard for you. Prince Albert, the Duke of York, changed his name to George upon becoming King in 1937, after the Abdication of Edward VIII. It was in honor of a request of Queen Victoria, who asked that no future Sovereign have the name of Albert, in respect to her late husband. (So you see, uniform numbers are not the only thing that can be retired.) For those of you who missed that question, you butter spread, er I mean better spread your blanket out and try and get some sleep.

Answer: Grant

Well we all know that Grant is entombed in Grant's tomb, so we were able to defeat the dragon and save the damsel. For those of you who missed that one that was your big chance in life to save a damsel from a dragon and you blew it because you didn't know who was in Grant's tomb.
The question is; How many total episodes were there of the classic television series "Gilligan's Island?"

Answer: 98

Those who answered 98 are able to proceed. The old man also let those cross who answered 9. "There were more episodes than 9," he explained, "but you couldn't really tell, because they all looked alike."

Answer: Ernie

Those of you who knew that Ernie had a hit song with "Rubber Duckie," which reached number seventeen on the charts, may move on. Those who missed the question are doomed doomed doomed to sink in quick sand, forever unable to get the song "Rubber Duckie" out of your head.

Answer: Austin

Okay that was an easy one except for people who live outside the United States who might not know state capitals and people who live inside the United States who might not know state capitals . . .Man that must have been a nerd erm... hard question.

Answer: It is found in Australia

Yes, most farmers like birds that eat insects but not grain. The barn swallow is found throughout the world, except Australia. They must not have coconuts there. But we knew about the barn swallow because we had visited www.americanartifacts.com/smma/per/b4.htm and thus we can pass by the ogre. We come up to a drawbridge and a castle.

Hey wait a minute this is the same castle and drawbridge that we started from. We have been going around in circles. Well maybe this time when it comes to the three doors . . . we choose the one that is instant death.

It is quicker that way.
