The "Thomas" books by the Reverend W. Awdry have delighted children ever since the first one, "The Three Railway Engines" was first published in 1945. They have also been made into a popular television show, with some episodes being narrated by Ringo Starr.

Along with Fox McCloud, Peppy Hare, and Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad first appeared in the 1993 game "Star Fox" for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Assuming the role of inventor and mechanic, Slippy accompanies the Star Fox team on their missions, and is frequently voted one of the more annoying video game characters.

The album was named "Fresh Cream". The band were one of the first to be classed as a Supergroup, and was made up of Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Jack Bruce.
The original track was just five minutes long, but in 1968, Cream included a much longer version on their album "Wheels of Fire".

A section patrol vessel was one which belonged to a civilian owner but was appropriated by the navy for the duration of the war.
The Toad had been built in 1914 by her owner, and was returned to him in 1919.

Spadefoot toads are equipped with a hard protrusion on the back of their legs which gives them their name. They use the "spade" to burrow backwards into the ground, rear first, with their beady little toad eyes disappearing last. The vibration caused by summer rain or thunder brings them to the surface where they breed in the sudden pools of water. Depending on the specific breed, their eggs can hatch and the tadpoles morph into toadlets in as little as a week. Spadefoot toads spend most of the year underground, and if the summer rains don't appear, they can actually stay safely underground until the next summer.

Toad made his first appearance in the fourth issue of the "X-Men" comic, early in 1964. In the comics he was Magneto's servant at first, and was portrayed as weak and feeble.
In the 2000 film version of "X Men", Toad was played by Ray Park, who also portrayed Darth Maul in 1999s "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace".

The film was retitled "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" for its release in the United States.
As well as playing Mr. Toad, Terry Jones also directed the film.
Kenneth Graham's much loved book was first published in 1908, and has never been out of print since.

The TOAD software was designed by the Quest Software company, and its main designer Jim McDaniel is now sometimes called "Toadman". He has also authored several handbooks and user manuals for the programme.

The "Toad series", as it is known, follows the at times tragic adventures of Limpy, a cane toad with a squashed leg. In the first book, "Toad Rage", first published in 1999, Limpy sets out to discover if humans really do hate cane toads, and tries to make them like cane toads in the process. Limpy's haphazard adventures continued in the sequels "Toad Heaven", "Toad Away" and "Toad Surprise", published in 2001, 2003 and 2008 respectively.

The recipe for toad in the hole dates back several hundred years, with the earliest references calling for the cheapest cuts of meat, or even leftovers to be used.
The famous Hannah Glasse recipe book "The Art of Cooking" from the 1740s also includes a dish of pigeons cooked in Yorkshire pudding and called (surprise!) "pigeon in a hole".
