They all restarted in their spare cars, and despite Hunt winning the Grand Prix, they were all later disqualified after the Ferrari team took the matter to the FIA (which was hypocritical given that their own driver, Clay Regazzoni had started in a spare car, but retired due to gearbox issues).

James Hunt went on to win the 1976 F1 Championship beating his arch rival, Niki Lauda by a single point!
