1. Robert Fripp was the lead guitarist for which "red" rock group?

Answer: King Crimson

King Crimson were formed in London in 1968. They underwent numerous membership changes over the next few decades, but Fripp was a constant member, still performing for them when I created this quiz in July, 2016.
2. Which "red" city is home to the University of South Dakota?

Answer: Vermilion

Vermilion is located in southeast South Dakota, just across the Missouri River from Nebraska. The University of South Dakota was founded there in 1862. Its sports teams are nicknamed the Coyotes, and, appropriately enough, play in red and white uniforms.
3. Which one of these "red" sports teams was NEVER a Major League Baseball team during the 20th century?

Answer: Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are a National Football League team. They have undergone numerous name changes since their foundation in Chicago in 1898, and have moved cities twice, to St Louis in 1960, then to Phoenix in 1988.
The other three options in this question are baseball teams who have won multiple World Series crowns.
4. The musician Prince recorded a number of "red" songs, but which one of these tracks was by a different artist altogether?

Answer: Pink Cadillac

"Pink Cadillac" is a Bruce Springsteen song. It originally appeared as a B-Side to the single "Dancing in the Dark", but was later included on the albums "Tracks" and "18 Tracks". The other three options were all singles released by Prince.
5. Which of these "red" cars is the real name of a Japanese automobile of the 1970s/80s?

Answer: Nissan Cherry

Originally known as the Datsun Cherry, the Nissan Cherry was a two-door supermini which was produced between 1970 and 1986. It was replaced by the Nissan Sunny.

Answer: Red grouse

The red grouse is a game bird which breeds in the UK and Ireland. It is hunted between August 12 (the Glorious Twelfth) and December 10. All the other options in this question are New World birds.

Answer: Ruby

Port is a fortified wine produced in Portugal, in the Douro Valley, near the city of Porto. There are various styles of this drink, with the cheapest and most extensively produced being Ruby, the name reflecting its red colour.
8. The official colors of the Washington Redskins of the National Football League are gold, white and which shade of red?

Answer: Burgundy

Founded as the Boston Braves in 1932, the Redskins have been playing in Washington D.C. since 1937. They are the only NFL team to list burgundy as one of their official colors.
9. Which shade of red takes its name from an 1859 battle fought on Italian soil?

Answer: Magenta

The Battle of Magenta was fought near the town of the same name, and resulted in a victory for Napoleon III's French-Sardinian army over the Austrian Empire. The dye of this shade of red was discovered in the area shortly afterwards.

Answer: Captain Scarlet

Captain Scarlet was a puppet character invented by Gerry Anderson of "Thunderbirds" fame. The Mysterons were a hostile race from the planet Mars.
