Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following is one of the world's largest granite exporters?

Answer: Kelgran

Kelgran 'operates more than fifty quarries and exports 90 percent of block production to meet the ever growing demand for granite'. Who'd have thunk it?
2. Which of these is not a close relative of broccoli?

Answer: Radish

Broccoli is a good source of vitamin A, calcium, and riboflavin (or vitamin B2). Apparently.
3. Which was the first Celine Dion hit to reach number 1 on the billboard dance chart?

Answer: Misled

Maybe it's just me, but I actually think this is less interesting than the broccoli question.
4. Approximately how many retreaded tyres were sold in North America in the year 2000?

Answer: 26.2 million

I found this information through 'The Rubber Room' at www.rubber.com. This is a website set up to promote trade in the rubber industry, which may disappoint a certain type of surfer.
5. When are the first records of British merchants importing tea?

Answer: 1644

While researching this, I actually found the history of tea quite interesting. I'm starting to worry myself.
6. A man paints one wall with blue paint. 1 hour later he paints another wall with green paint. 2 hours after that, he paints a third wall with yellow paint. 4 hours after the green wall, he paints a fourth wall with red paint. 8 hours after the blue wall, he paints a final wall with orange paint. Blue paint takes 10 hours to dry, yellow paint 6 hours, red paint 7 hours, green paint 9 hours, and orange paint 5 hours. He then sits down and watches them all. Which is the last wall to dry?

Answer: orange

I fell asleep 3 times writing the above question. How many times did you fall asleep answering it?
7. Which monarch can be described both as the child of George III's grandaughter's son's son's son and the child of William IV's niece's great grandson's brother?

Answer: Elizabeth II

According to the Quiz Editor, this section is supposed to contain "Interesting Information" about the above question, so I may be kicked out for telling you the following. George III's grandaughter was Queen Victoria, her son was Edward VII, his son was George V, whose sons included the current Queen's father George VI. William IV's niece was again Queen Victoria, and her great grandson (in this case) was Edward VIII, who abdicated in favour of his brother George VI.
8. In a Slovak car licence plate, which two letters indicate Bratislava?

Answer: BA

A recent quiz in another section suggested that too many people were asking the same old questions in Quizzyland. At least I'm not guilty of that.
9. What is pi to 9 decimal places?

Answer: 3.141592653

OK I admit it. I'm just bitter about being no good at maths.
10. Which of these did not star Goldie Hawn?

Answer: When Harry Met Sally

Don't get me wrong - I like Goldie Hawn and don't think she's boring at all. I just needed a question to cheer myself up after the other ones.
