Answer: Devonport

Ambleside is a pretty place, one of four settlements that combined to form the original Devonport. The others were Wenvoe, Formby and Torquay. Devonport became Tasmania's third city when it gained, and held, a population of 25,000 people.
2. On the Atherton Tablelands in Queensland, tea is grown. Can you name the closest city to the tablelands?

Answer: Cairns

Cairns is the closest. Atherton is actually on the tablelands, but it isn't a city. The tablelands is a lovely place to visit; cooler than the coastal areas it has a great many waterfalls and crater lakes Barrine and Eacham.
3. Amberley and Anglesea are the names of two places in Australia. What are they?

Answer: Barracks

Anglesea Barracks is in Tasmania, and Amberley in Queensland. Other RAAF bases include Townsville, Darwin and Williamtown.

There are about 1200 species of Acacia, of which over three quarters are found in Australia. Africa has the next-largest number... but Africa isn't a country.

Captain (later Governor) Arthur Phillip (1738 - 1814) commanded the First Fleet that arrived in 1788 at Port Phillip Bay.

Answer: eggs

Anzac biscuits were popular in wartime because they lasted well and did not contain eggs. Properly made, they are golden brown in colour, and remain popular in the 21st Century.
