It is exported world wide, with America and Japan being two of its biggest importers.

The first British Open championship was played at Prestwick in 1860.
Nowadays, Prestwick occasionally plays host to the British Amateur Championship.

John Loudon McAdam was born in my home town of Ayr. His name lends itself to his creation 'macadam', which evolved into tarmacadam.
