Answer: Rouen

Rouen lies on the banks of the Seine River, some 70 miles north west of Paris. Its main attractions include its 11th century cathedral and the Musee des Beaux-Arts. French heroine Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in Rouen in 1431, aged 19.
2. Which Danish city, situated on the island of Zealand, has been the site of a famous annual rock festival since 1971?

Answer: Roskilde

Roskilde is located a few miles west of the Danish capital, Copenhagen, and is the site of a Gothic cathedral and a Viking Ship Museum. The Roskilde Festival has taken place every year since 1971 with the exception of 2020, when it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Answer: Rijeka

Rijeka is the third-largest city in Croatia, after Zagreb and Split. Situated on Kvarner Bay, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea, it has an economy dominated by shipbuilding. The city is an important ferry port, though only serving other Croatian destinations.

Riga is the capital city of Latvia, and is situated on the Gulf of Riga, an arm of the Baltic Sea. The entire city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The House of the Blackheads was originally built in the 14th century as a guild for unmarried tradesmen. The original building was destroyed by German bombs during World War 2, but was rebuilt in the 1990s and opened as a museum.

The Ruhr rises on Kahler Asten mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia and flows westwards for 136 miles before discharging into the Rhine at Duisburg. Answer: Rotterdam

Rotterdam is the second-largest city in The Netherlands. It sits on the banks of the Nieuwe Maas, which is a distributary of the Rhine River. It was the busiest port in the world until being overtaken by Singapore and Shanghai in the early 21st century. The port handles over eight million containers every year.
