1. This coastal city is in Queensland, north of the Tropic of Capricorn. What is its name?

Answer: Cairns

Cairns was declared a town in 1876 and was named after the then Governor of Queensland. Cairns has five sister cities around the world, in 2003, including, Lae in Papua New Guinea, Sidney in Canada, Scottsdale in the US, Riga in Latvia and Hiwasa in Japan. Currumbin is at the southern end of the Gold Coast, Charters Towers and Clermont are inland towns, all in Queensland!
2. Where in the world is the city of Cartago?

Answer: Costa Rica

Cartago, the capital of Cartago Province in central Costa Rica, was founded in 1563. Destroyed by a volcano erupting in 1723 it suffered further damage from earthquakes, twice in the 1800's and again in 1910!

Answer: Canada

Cranbrook was declared in 1898 after the advent of the railway! Located in British Columbia it is overlooked by the 'Rockies' which have dense forests and blue water lakes.
