Answer: New South Wales

Sydney Harbour can be found in Australia's most populous city and is home to the largest port in the country. Depicted are the Sydney Harbour Bridge, also known as the Coathanger, and the Sydney Opera House, perhaps Australia's most famous man-made landmark, as they edge onto the Tasman Sea.

In the surrounding area, Sydney Harbour National Park is home to a number of protected islands and beaches just a short distance from the city proper, particularly notable since two thirds of the people living in New South Wales live in Sydney and the surrounding metropolitan area.

Answer: Broken Hill

One of the westernmost towns in New South Wales, Broken Hill is quite the distance from the major cities of Australia (hundreds of miles away from Adelaide, let alone its state capital, Sydney). Broken Hill formed as a silver mining town in the late 19th century though the region was settled by indigenous peoples long before. Because of its location in the Outback it also happens to be one of the hotter locations in Australia with some of the most consistent sunshine anywhere in the world.

Answer: Japan

Lakes Kawaguchi, Motosu, Sai, Shoji, and Yamanaka all make up the lakes surrounding the base of Mount Fuji (and surrounding peaks) in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, one of Japan's first four national parks formed in the 1950s. All five, formed by eruptions of Japan's tallest peak, are tourist spots, and besides the obvious mountain smack-dab in the middle, it's also the home of the Fuji-Q Highland amusement park, countless resorts and spas, and, for the more morbid sensibility, the Aokigahara Suicide Forest.

Answer: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Reaching five and a half kilometers above sea level, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is one of the many protected National Parks of China and home to some of the highest-regarded scenic views in the country. Besides the mountain itself, the surrounding valley is home to unique cascading pools, somewhat unique to the region, and the city of Lijiang, the Old City of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in a millennium of history.

Answer: Stone Forest

Found nearly one hundred kilometers outside the city of Kunming, China, the Stone Forest of Shilin is known for its tall, karst rock formations rising from the ground forming an extensive forest of rock. During the late Paleozoic Era, the area was underwater, and the formations there were created by erosion, remaining in its unique state ever since.

It's unsurprising that with such a unique past, the area is also an archaeological hotspot and a number of dinosaur remains have been found there.

Answer: Ganges

One of the holiest cities in the Hindu religion, Varanasi is in North India and in part of the same province as Lucknow and Allahabad. It's no surprise the city also sits on the Ganges River, also known for its religious significance and purifying qualities. That being said, by the turn of the 21st century, it became one of the most polluted rivers in the world, partly because of the dense population stretching across the waterway, especially in cities like Varanasi.

The river is one of the largest in the world, cutting through India and Bangladesh before flowing out into the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.

Answer: Vienna

This building, the largest library in the country, is part of the former imperial palace of Austria, Hofburg Palace, and has expanded its collection so much so that it has started to shift into other buildings in Vienna. Interestingly, less than half of the collection inside the building is in physical form; the library also has millions of electronically-stored copies of Austrian literature. That which is in physical form, however, dates back as far as two thousand five hundred years ago.

Answer: Zermatt

While Zermatt is a relatively small, Alpine town, it's an important location for anyone looking for a sublime experience in the shadow of the Matterhorn. While it was originally a farming town, it quickly became a base of operations for those seeking to ascend the dangerous Matterhorn and, eventually, it became a prominent skiing destination known for its lodges and Swiss chocolate emporiums. Zermatt is about a kilometer and a half above sea level while the Matterhorn tops out at nearly four and a half kilometers.

Answer: Copacabana

This four kilometer stretch of beach is one of the most famous in the world, and on certain occasions, notably during New Years celebrations, the beach can hold millions of people on its shoreline. The area around this beach also happens to be a fairly affluent barrio compared to much of the rest of Rio, mostly because of tourist influence. Comparably, Ipanema Beach, only a short distance away, is also famous (think 'The Girl From Ipanema') but it usually boasts smaller crowds and cleaner, whiter sands.

Answer: Seven

Seven Mile Bridge, as it is so named, is actually just under seven miles in length, but that didn't stop it from being named one of the world's longest bridges upon its completion in 1982. Running alongside it is actually a second bridge of equal length for foot traffic and cyclists though it was originally covered with railroad tracks. One side of the bridge is in Little Duck Key in the Lower Keys while the other is in Marathon, Florida. If you followed the bridge further southwest as far as you could go, you'd only need to travel about an hour west to Key West. Even the Everglades aren't that far south.
