Answer: Chip Barm

A Chip Barm is short for a Chip Barmcake, essentially hot chips on a bread roll. A Chiko Roll is an Australian "delicacy" you would buy from a chippy. Pad Thai is a Thai dish and not on any chippy menu! Calamari rings would be available from many chippies in Australia but not in Manchester.

The Manchester Arena was originally built as part of Manchester's bid for the Olympic games of 2000. Although the bid was unsuccessful the Arena has been a huge success. Some events from the arena's history include: Take That, Kylie Minogue, Paul McCartney and Pavarotti concerts, Mike Tyson and Ricky Hatton boxing fights and Manchester United's homecoming after winning the Treble in 1999.

It began on 1 April 1990 in the unlikely location of the Victorian prison's chapel. It raged for 25 days, claiming the lives of two men and making headlines around the world.

It does rain more in Manchester than a lot of the rest of England. It is mainly because we get most of our weather from the Gulf stream. It hits the UK from the west and heads east. As the Pennine mountain range is just to the east of Manchester, the clouds empty over Manchester before they get to the mountains.

This damp weather was one of the reasons why Manchester had such a successful cotton industry. (Of course a few other cities that are to the west of the Pennines receive similar rainfall)
7. How many free car parking places were there at the Trafford Centre when it was opened?

The Trafford Centre was opened in 1998 and has around 280 stores. It is one of the biggest and most successful shopping centres in Britain.

Heaton Park was part of the estate of the Earls of Wilton. It contains Heaton Hall, a farm, a boating lake, trams and various other attractions.

Previous to the building of the Beetham Tower, the tallest building was the CIS Tower. The Co-Op Insurance Services tower is 25 stories high and over 400ft tall. Originally it was covered with mosaic tiles but they have now been replaced with solar panels which create enough energy to make nearly nine millions cups of tea a year.

It was built around 1960 and is still a major landmark today.

On Saturday 15 June 1996, at a peak shopping time on Father's Day weekend, a 3,000lb IRA bomb exploded in Manchester, injuring more than 200 people and ripping into the city's main shopping centre. In a state of shocked disbelief, police had begun clearing people from the area some 40 minutes before the blast. Luckily, nobody was killed.
20. What colour is the Manchester Terrier dog?

Answer: Black and Tan

The Manchester Terrier is a descendant of the rough coated English Terrier. It was originally bred to assist hounds in the 16th century. They make good guard dogs or pets.
