The largest city in the peninsula is Cherbourg, for which it is named. St. Lo is at the base of the peninsula, and Coutances is not far west of it. Valognes is right in the center.

The town of Lizard lies on Lizard Point. There is a chasm called "The Lion's Den" on the peninsula. It was formed from a cave collapse. At the tip of the Penwith Peninsula lie Lands End.
