The Katy Trail is named for the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, better known as KATY. It is a popular trail for biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing, running 225 miles between St. Charles and Clinton. It is the longest Rails-to-Trails project in America.

The trail itself isn't all; one can explore Missouri's heritage in towns along the trail such as Hartsburg, Rocheport, Marthasville, and many others.

The Hall of Fame is full of interactive displays of famous athletes such as Ozzie Smith, Bob Gibson, and Stan Musial. You'll find memorabilia from many sports, from baseball and football, to even auto racing and fishing.

Meramec Caverns can be found right off Interstate 44 in Stanton, Missouri. It is advertised along the highway as "Greatest Show Under the Earth", "Tours Every 30 Minutes", and "Jesse James Hideout".

Answer: Taum Sauk Mountain

In Taum Sauk Mountain State Park, there's a short path leading to the highest point in the state. You can view the surrounding area either from an overlook just off a gravel road, or from a tall lookout tower. There's also a trail leading to Mina Sauk Falls, the state's tallest waterfall.

The park gets its name because of lots of large granite boulders lined up side-to-side like elephants in a circus. It provides some nice scenery regardless of whether you stay on the trail around the rocks or climb on top of the rocks.

You can find Sea World in Orlando, San Diego, San Antonio, and Cleveland, but nowhere in Missouri. Worlds/Oceans of Fun is in Kansas City, Six Flags is just outside of St. Louis, and Silver Dollar City is in Branson, a popular place not just for Missouri, but for all the United States.

Answer: Johnson's Shut-Ins

Millions of years ago, volcanic rock formed and parts of it eroded and formed a canyon-like setting where the water is "shut in" channels between the rocks. It's a very popular place to just splash around in the cool waters of the Black River. The rocks can be slippery even when dry, so tennis shoes or river shoes are best to wear in the shut-ins. Because of the inherent danger around the rocks, no more than 100 carloads of people are allowed into the park at any time. So, if you arrive after the 100th car, be ready to wait until someone else leaves!

While Bass Pro Shops in Springfield attracts people from everywhere, now St. Louisans don't have to drive four hours to get to one! There's now one right across the Missouri River in St. Charles.

The Hallmark Visitor Center is located in the Crown Center complex of downtown Kansas City, which also contains specialty shops, restaurants, and theaters. In the visitor center, you can see technicians demonstrate the die-making and printing processes involved in making the greeting cards that we give to people for so many different occasions.

The French were some of Missouri's earliest settlers. Their style is shown in the architecture of Ste. Genevieve as well as in the Illinois towns right across the river, which can be accessed by the Ste.Genevieve-Modoc Ferry across the Mississippi.

A billboard on southbound Interstate 55 just past Ste. Genevieve, about 85 miles north of Sikeston, advertises that Lambert's has thrown over 47 million rolls. They've never changed that number on the billboard; it's been the same for years! Rolls aren't all they serve; they'll pass around small servings of fried potatoes and onions, black-eyed peas, fried okra, and many other vegetables before your entree even arrives at your table!
