This destroyer was only half completed when it was towed to England in May 1940. It participated in the Battle of Cape Bon in the night of 12th-13th December 1941. In this battle the Isaac Sweers together with the British destroyers Sikh, Legion and Maori destroyed the Italian light cruisers Alberico da Barbiano and Alberto di Giussano. (Cape Bon is the north-east point of Tunisia and the Allied victory was important in the battle to hold Malta).
2. Which Dutch submarine torpedoed the Itala Balbo on 9th September 1941, 10 mile NNW of Elba?

The O 24 was the most successful Dutch submarine in WWII. The O stands for onderzeeboot (submarine) which were based in the Netherlands or the Dutch West Indies.

The Japanese navy lost no ships, only some damage, and the landings on Java were postponed for 1 day. The Australian light cruiser Perth and the American heavy cruiser Houston escaped destruction by only a couple of days.

The battle of the Java Sea was signaled the end of Dutch rule of the Dutch East Indies.
