The 10th and 21st Panzer divisions first faced and defeated elements from the US II Corps at Kasserine Pass. The performance of US troops was so bad that Rommel remarked that the GIs were terrible soldiers. The one positive about the incident is that the new commanding officer of II Corps became George Patton.

He promptly had them shot without trial.
