2. Many games can be played with a deck of cards, with other people or by yourself. Card games played alone are called Solitaire card games. There are many versions of Solitaire games. Can you name the game that is not a Solitaire card game?

Answer: Cribbage

Cribbage is a two player game that requires a special board and pegs as well as a deck of cards. Most people play Klondike when they play Solitaire but they may only know the game as Solitaire. Yukon and Spider are both similar to Klondike but with a few differences.

4. Who is the famed hunter of Greek mythology? Hint: He dwells among the stars, and is easily recognised by his belt!

Answer: Orion

Orion is one of the most recognisable constellations with three distinctive stars marking his belt (that's how I spot him anyway). In the Southern Hemisphere, this arrangement of stars is also known as the Saucepan or the Pot.

5. Birds must have brought to my tiny garden the seed which grew into a 'butterfly bush', a beautiful shrub whose common name is used because its blossoms so conspicuously attract butterflies. What is its official scientific name?

Answer: Buddleia

There are many varieties of Buddleia, the most familiar in England being Buddleia davidii. I have seen small tortoiseshells and red admirals besides cabbage whites this year. Bees love the buddleias too.

6. Which Canadian restaurant chain is named after a former Major League Baseball player who was banned from the game in 1920?

Answer: Shoeless Joe's

Shoeless Joe's is, fittingly, a sports themed restaurant chain in Canada, and first opened in 1985. They serve a regular restaurant menu with soups, salads, burgers, and steaks, but are known for their chicken wings. The name is a reference to "Shoeless Joe" Jackson, who was banned from Major League Baseball in 1920, after he was found to have thrown the 1919 World Series for $5,000.

7. Which four states in the US combine to produce the country's largest watermelon yield by weight?

Answer: Texas, Florida, Georgia, California

These four southern states combine to produce over 65% of all watermelons grown in the US each year (by weight). Average yield per acre is over 30,000 pounds. That's a lot of the delicious fruit! The warm weather must be good for them.

8. From what dough are cream puffs made?

Answer: choux pastry

In Kristen Alley's 2014 novel "The Will," young Ethan says to Josie "They got cream puffs at the bakery but I bet yours will be better" to which she replied "As Americans often put sweetened whipped cream or vanilla pudding between the choux pastry, and we'll be making crème patisserie, this is indeed a fact." "What's crème patisserie?" Ethan asked. "Proof there is a God," she answered. Cream puffs are made from choux pastry (pâte à choux) -- a light pastry raised by steam expanding within it. The interior may be filled with pastry cream for eclairs, whipped cream for cream puffs, cheese and herbs for gougères, and many other good things.

9. How many players are needed to play children's hopscotch?

Answer: 1

The layout can date from the 16th century or earlier. The Romans had a similar layout. One player can enjoy the exercise on a hopscotch layout. Two players can make it a competition and more than two can also play. The term hopscotch might come from the combining of hop and scratch.

10. If you find yourself in Venice (Italy) eating "bigoli in salsa" in a traditional local eatery, what has the waiter just served you?

Answer: Pasta with anchovies and onions.

This stick-to-your-ribs dish is traditionally eaten at the "Festa del Redentore", which takes place in July to give thanks to Christ for bringing the 16th century plague to an end. The event is marked by locals going out by boat into the Grand Canal for the day, eating stuff like "bigoli in salsa", overindulging in wine, and then enjoying an impressive firework display.
The other options were Croque-monsieur, Toad in the Hole, and Falafel.
