1. What card is known as the Bone Crank?

Answer: Icy Manipulator

This moniker stems from the Ice Age version of the card that depicted a strange machine made of bones. The original Alpha and later Mirrodin and 10th edition versions of the card depict various orb-like artifacts.

2. What is the correct casting cost of a Juzam Djinn?

Answer: 2 black and 2 generic mana

Long considered the best aggressive creature in Magic and commanding prices well over 200 dollars, this Arabian Nights card is a 5/5 that does 1 damage to its controller every turn. Today, there are multiple creatures with better stats.

3. How many cards does Ancestral Recall allow you to draw?

Answer: 3

For just one blue mana, you get 3 new cards. Next to the Black Lotus, this is probably the second most powerful card ever printed. It was originally designed to complete the cycle of Healing Salve, Dark Ritual, Lightning Bolt and Giant Growth, but deemed too powerful for a common card and thus moved to rare.

Answer: 7

Library of Alexandria permits you to either tap it for one colorless mana or, if you hold exactly seven cards, to draw an extra card. Since you can use this before or after other card draws and plays, it is usually possible to use the drawing ability every turn in a control deck.

Originally released in Antiquities, this card became the namesake of all cards and strategies that try to win by exhausting the opponent's deck. These strategies were powerful in early Magic, today, they are less so.

Answer: Tivadar's Crusade

The card is a rather simple sorcery that just destroys all Goblins for two white and one generic mana. It never saw much play but would today probably be an interesting choice against tribal decks when used with one of the cards that let you replace one creature type with another.

7. Which of the following cards, as originally printed, would render Necropotence useless and practically automatically defeat a deck based on it?

Answer: Anvil of Bogardan

As printed, Anvil of Bogardan made players skip their discard phase and thus the Necropotence player would never get to put the cards set aside into his hand. Today, there is no more such thing as a discard phase and Necropotence simply acts at end of turn, so the Anvil would no longer shut it down.

Answer: 0

Gaseous Form prevents the creature from dealing or receiving combat damage. This overrides any other modifiers.

9. What color is a Vesuvan Doppelganger that has copied a Serra Angel?

Answer: Blue

Vesuvan Doppelganger copies all characteristics of the targeted creature except color. It thus retains its original blue color unless it is otherwise affected by a color-changing card such as one of the laces.
