Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Players begin by selecting a race that is made up at random, the goal is to have the most victory cards at the end.

Answer: Small World

The game was released by Days of Wonder in 2009. It was based on "Vinci", which was released by the same company in 1999. It was changed and expanded to create the new game. "Games Magazine" named it the 2010 Game of the Year.
2. The goal is to be the first to get to 10 victory points. Points are earned through building settlements, roads and cities.

Answer: Settlers of Catan

Sometimes shortened to "Settlers" or "Catan" the game was first released in Germany and became popular worldwide.

It was designed by Klaus Teuber. The standard game plays 3-4 players, but with expansions and rule variations, 2-6 can play at once.
3. The goal is simply to not run off the edge of the board, games typically last less than 15 minutes.

Answer: Tsuro

Designed by Tom McMurchie, the game is played on a board separated into 6x6 squares. Players take turn moving about the board following pathways made by playing tiles. The last player to not run off the edge of the board wins.
4. Players are dealt several train cars and have to complete the objectives to link various cities via railways.

Answer: Ticket to Ride

At least to me, this is one of the best games featured in this quiz. The object changes with every game, as players have secret goals to link various cities. Points can also be scored for the longest train, etc. Every game is different, challenging and fun.
5. Players work together to defend against invaders and destroy monsters.

Answer: Castle Panic

What I didn't mention in the question, the invaders are monsters attacking a castle! This is a co-op game so everyone playing either wins or loses together. It's the perfect way to not have to compete with your friends and family. It was released in 2009 and designed by Justin De Witt.
6. Players answer open-ended questions to score points.

Answer: Say Anything

This is a sequel to "Wits and Wagers" which is also featured in this quiz. The game makes one player the "judge" each round and asks open-ended questions. The judge picks a winner and the rounds move on.
7. Players answer trivia questions to score points.

Answer: Wits and Wagers

Designed by Dominic Crapuchettes and released through North Star Games, this is a simple one to play. The game lasts seven rounds, each round there is a new trivia question. The questions all have numerical answers. The players then bet on who they think guessed closest to the answer without going over.
8. Players work together to survive an outbreak of several diseases.

Answer: Pandemic

Co-operative games are some of my favorites. In this game, the players work together to survive the titular pandemic outbreak of four major diseases. Players work together to find all four cures before conditions for losing are met.
9. Players pick hero or zombie and then play as such. The objectives change each time the game is played.

Answer: Last Night on Earth

The game was designed by Jason C. Hill and illustrated by Jack Scott Hill. The board is laid out in different formats each time, making replay value high. Players pick a side and are given conditions to meet for victory. Each team has its own conditions for victory.
10. Players compete to build a large castle, and acquire money.

Answer: Alhambra

The game is set an undefined Arabian-themed region. Players are each given a single-tiled Alhambra to start, and several currency cards. The game plays through several rounds and at the end, the player with the largest combination of their Alhambra and cash wins.
